I too live on a budget. However, I have found the following (see pic) to be safe and effective. You can purchase a case of 8 bottles (38 ounces each) for $45. Should last a lifetime. I've been using Dawn for years with excellent results - cuts grease, dirt and grime...leaves no residue. And yes, it will strip any wax or polish from your wheels. I use it for wheels only.
