I used to wash my car weekly but I don't get the time anymore. You and I are fortunate in the sense that swirl marks don't show up too bad on metallic bluewater paint but I still refuse to take my car for a local wash. Detailing is great, but without the paint protection film, I can't help but think the great results may only be short-term. |

used to be really invloved in detailing world (and the detailingworld website), but kids, life, house put a pause on that.
My old 2004 530i has better paintwork than my 335d which has shocking paintwork under my eyes - most think its clean and I can pick up loads odf areas that need a clay bar etc... I have decided that I will work on her bit by bit, so i've claybarred a few panels, polish and sealed or (LSP) then with the other panels used a weaker wax so I can clay bar. I do this once a week early morning so the rest of the day is family time... but i'm not so fussed if I miss a week... |

Got a shed full [literally] of car detailing gear! Dont like cleaning the 335 as Silver still looks the same regardless
Love cleaning the Cooper S though

Currently the e91 M Sport is supporting two layers of Poorboys black hole and two coats of Colonite 476 wax. This was applied after a full hit of iron x, clay and megs 105/205. Then panel wiped with IPA and stripped all polishing oil. This literally means water beads like hell and washing the car is a doddle. I love winter prep, makes the dirt come off easy and wash time reduced. Little prep goes a long way. I will probably top up the wax in 3 months or so and that will see me through. Then a thorough summer detail!!! With regards to the posts of people taking there motors to the polish car washers, no thanks. |

Weekly wash or bi-weekly depending on how dirty it is.
Clay every 6 months. Collinite it every 6 months after polishing/correcting Wax it every other month as required More focused on the interior these days... weekly hoover no question about it. Dr Leather Wipes every two weeks. |

I'm the same as a few of the guys on here. Love nothing more than a gleaming car but have a little 2 year old girl who now commands most of free time.
Still only me that cleans it but just a quick two bucket wash with lambs wool mitt and a going over with autoglym srp when I get a chance. Actually thinking of taking a day off work to do some winter prep. Clay, polish & wax. |
