Is OEM Mid Bass my best option ?
Well in my situation I should add. I have the SWS 8 Xi and I'm also running a 10" jL W3 in the trunk and I just have no mid bass even with the MS-8 eq. I can't find Jehnerts or the Kickers and I just want my mid-bass back and I have read many on this forum who love the hi fi 8" mid bass oem speskers. Any suggestions or advice is gratefully appreciated.
My set up: CDT CL 42 Infinity reference 4" center SWS Xi 8" OEM rears JL W3 10" JL XD 600/6 JL JX-250/1 Technic Harness 2008 328i Original Hi-Fi system Last edited by tmac01; 05-28-2013 at 06:30 AM.. |

However, you are probably experience most of your weak midbass due to running a subwoofer (corner loaded?) The problem is that the ms-8 sweeps the sub well beyond its crossed frequency range. Even though you may have the sub crossed over at say 80hz, on the initial tuning sweep it listens for sound as high up as 150-200hz, which will not penetrate the rear seats... The solution is to do the kaigoss mod. Many other posts on this. Edit i anot familiar twith the x-250 but you wil l need to use y adapterrs on the midbass output channels from ms-8 and then run the midbass outputs as inputs to the x-250 AND the 600/6. Cnfigur the front low from 20-200hz and do no tell the ms-8 you have a sub |

Taibanl,
should I even be running the sub through the MS-8 ? The JL JX-250 is a mono amp that is just running the sub only. So I just search for Kaigoss MS-8 mod ? Thank you very much...... |

The other mod ("kaigoss" mod) is completely different. Basically, you need to configure the MS-8 without a sub, and let the midbass play all the way down to 20Hz. Then, you split the sub signal from the midbass signal externally with the help of your amp crossovers. So the MS-8 is sending 20 - 150Hz to your midbass amp, then split the signal at the amp if you are using the same amp for mid-bass and sub. If not, you can use the line-out from your mid-bass amp and connect it to your sub amp. If that is not an option, use RCA y-splitters.

Kaigoss I'm using a separate amp for my sub. I'm using the jl XD 600/6 for fronts, underseat subs and rears. I'm using the ms 8 amp just for my center channel so I'm thinking I have to configure the ms 8 without a subs?

Sure it will!
MS-8 "Front Low" (L+R) channels to the sub amp. Pre-outs then back to the midbass input channels of the 600/6. Set the MS-8 front low to 150hz, subsonic to 20hz. HP the Midbass channels at 80hz/12db and up on 600/6, sub on 80hz/12db down on the sub amp. |

And just leave the bass boost down. There is no need for it. |
