O2 sensors dying

I have a 335xi and I have lost 3 o2 sensors in the past 6 months. I have 80k miles on my car. Does this seem insane? My service tech thinks it could be a result of carbon build up from the fuel injector. Anyone with similar problems that can shed some light. Thanks.

Funny thing- I just heard a friend describing this to me at the grocery store. In his case, it was the catalytic converter that died. He also has the 2008 335xi (at about 125K miles). I was told the codes for O2 sensor and catalytic converter can be inter-related and confusing.
