Why does everyone block out their license plate in pictures?

Same as title...It's not like it's secret information, as you drive around with it in clear view of anyone on the road.

Hmmm, I wonder why this EXACT question is being asked on another BMW forum, by someone who just joined too! What a coincidence.

I am pretty sure people block it out of ignorance. I never did and I am still alive

If I were able to block my plate while driving around I would. There is lots that a person can find out with just your license plate, why make it easier by posting it online where anyone can see it?

Here is my plate. I give you 24 hours to find information on me.....hey...take till Monday....give you some extra time. If you find something useful...aside from my car Make and Model and my name/address (which you probably will not find anyway), I will paypal you $5 bucks !

MA 338-LV3

but to make it even more interesting I would like to know make/model and owner of MA plate "MOCKBA"

Not gonna waste time or effort but there is a lot of annoying things someone can do to you with your name address and phone number. It takes all of 5 seconds to open up a photo in paint and cover the plate. Why put information out there that you dot have to?

Oh... my.. god...

How unreal...

I actually have access into federal information and could probably pull license plates, but I wouldn't care to do it anyway. BUT, a quick google search on your name shows that you are a forum WHORE.

Well for one thing, if a dealer wants to be an ass, they can look up your car and deny your warranty based on mods, using the forum as proof

I remember it happened to a fellow local member in the past....

Because you are an internet stalker. And because we all belong to a relatively tight knit community here, you are probably eyeing someones wheels so you can steal them.

When you drive a car like this, you have to protect your identity.

I block mine out because it says AUDI NO1...which would just offend everyone here.
