If you're talking about European delivery, you're close...but not for local deliveries, most dealers have no coupes or cabs and have presold their Sept allocation for October delivery,so there's no need to discount them by much.

To tell you the truth, you'll always have a tendency for owners to say yes, and dealers to say no. But who has the 47k that will be making the purchase? You, the OP. The best way to find out is by shopping around. It's not unreasonable.

I haven't shopped for a BMW in 10 mos., but I did buy an E92 335. It was the same-old back then, those who screamed bloody murder that list price was all you could do. Then some claimed 2800 off list (finally figured out how they were doing that--LEASE AND TRADE-IN). The best way to keep it real is cash as far as the dealer is concerned. You either pay cash or do bring your own financing.

I got $1700 off list, cash price and dealer offered 5.5% financing when I told them my FCU was 5.75. Could I have done better? Of course. Plus I let them sell me that $390 tire protection, so there goes some of the discount.

Don't feel that it's your privelege for a BMW dealer to sell you a car, as you are the customer and it's your 47k+. You can have anything you want within reason. This is a forum on the www--take everything with a grain of salt. Good luck.

The only way you'll get close to this number quickly is by emailing the dealerships in your state, and working with their Internet Delivery folk.

They'll start much lower because they know you're comparing pricing with a wider audience.

I got $1500 over invoice (about $2400 off list with my options) which I thought was fair. There probably wasn't much more on the table at that point. However, I got a very late model 2007 (it's not delivered yet, and the 08s go into production soon). I'd doubt that there are amazing deals to be had on 08s yet - but there's always room for negotiation

$1050 over invoice for 2008 335i e92

I was fortunate enough to get my 2008 335i Coupe for $1050 over invoice. A second dealer was willing to do $1400 over invoice...so good deals are available.
Good luck!

Every market and region is different,we have 9 dealers in our close proximity, discounts on coupes and cabs are slim. For any '07's still on their way,I'm sure there will be something, since the '08's had no price increase.

The more efficient the market, and the more competitive the consumer, the bigger the discount. As I said, in Oct., after my test drive, my CA said list price on the coupe. 3 days later we agreed to $1700 off. Why? Because 5 dealerships in NYC/NJ offered from $1100 to $1800 off by one visit to edmunds.com. The only time a dealership would get list price is because they can. That means extreme demand, or extreme uninformed buyers. That's a market inefficiency. It sounds crazy, but there are still people who do not know how to visit edmunds.com. They'll come to a forum like this, and if people say no discount, you must pay list, they believe it.

+1 , it depends on where you live - or whatever area the dealership is located at

Make the dealers compete, you're trying to find the one dealership that wants to sell a car at a low profit, you only need to find one. Better yet is a dealer that needs to sell a car. They'll all say there's no such animal....but there is.

Either way, gl!
