The second is the one proven to work with no issues.
It is not something I would cheap out on.

Thanks, usually things like this don't vary to much think hdmi cables, etc.. but as a first time coding I know that sometimes you might run into errors with proper spec'd cables, I'll wait for a few other peopel to chime into this, and i'll make a purchase.

Garage List
I agree with Grant - 2nd cable link listed is proven & has never given anyone any troubles - & the one I purchased - using the FTDI Drivers (free download)

If you buy another cheaper version it's a crap shoot - may or may not work, if you run into problems due to the cable, then you've just thrown that $$ in the toilet, no matter how cheap it is...

These are not simple cables such as HDMI (no comparison) the electronics contained in the head are the key to the quality of the cable

If you need feedback on the 1st cable, I have it. I bought it before the coding thread took off on this site. So far, I have no issues with it, I can code all the extra features that I want available to my 2007 E90. I bought it for much more than $36, closer to the price of the 2nd one. Anyway, I'm not saying you should get the 1st one, just to let you know that the 1st does work. If you decided to go with the 2nd one, I've seen ppl saying in the "Coding success" thread that they got it for less than the price listed. Contact the guy.

Exactly. It's not the wires that matter its the chipset in the head.
