320D cutting out
hi there,
the car is a 2007 320D se with 97k miles. I've owned the car for around 6 months now and recently it's started randomly cutting out. It's as if the car is about to stall if it was in the wrong gear, it chokes a bit then just cuts out and won't start back up, however when I take the key out, put it back in and press the start button it starts again. the problem seems to be getting worse and happening more often. On my way to play squash last night i started the car up on the drive and went into the garage to get my racket, when i heard it cut out on the drive. When i got in there was a triangle warning light with an exclamation mark in the centre. I started it back up and drove off, when i pulled into the road it cut out again! When driving it seems lumpy. on my way home within a journey of about 5 miles it cut out about 7 or 8 times. I've read crank sensor or MAF sensor ? just hoping someone can shed some light on the problem for me. cheers guys ! |

wouldn't have thought so. the clutch feels fine. like I say, it happens when it's sat in neutral on the drive way too. I should also mention, when it has cut out when I start it again, it's turns over a little lumpy to start with.

Your best bet is to put it onto a diagnostic kit to get it checked out, the symptoms with your mileage and age car lead to too many possibilities unfortunately. Sticky EGR valve, injector problems, throttle, air mass sensor etc so if you know someone with a kit get it done?
