what up gang. im not much of a forum guy, but i just bought a 06 e90 and found this pittsburgh thread while doing a search for assorted what nots. i cant believe there are bimmer people around! i live in Overbrook and work in Wexford. (European Motorcycles of Pittsburgh) i never see tuned bimmers, let alone
e90s around ever.. and i worked at P&W for 7 years, lol!! just gave up my e60 535i off lease and found a very cool AW 325i all tastefully modded. wrong motor, but with a new kid in the car where am i going fast? no where. it has a magnaflow exhaust and simota cf intake, so it at least it sounds powerful, lol! may have software too but have not had it checked yet. h&r's, 19' csl reps(beat to shit!)and full ///Mtech aero kit complete the blingy! unfortunately it is at P&W now waiting for a new bumper since wifey decided to bounce it off another car 2 weeks after we bought it Anywho, maybe i'll run into you guys or make it to a meet sometime soon. i do need some help though. where can i get my 19's blasted and powdercoated for a good price? here's hoping yinz know! Cheers! |

ahh, Freddie.. "boom boom". he says that all the time. he's good at what he does, but a total douche! he owns a resteraunt in east liberty. havnt been yet but will have to go. I know dan a little, but he's new from when I left. he handled my 535 when the hpfp was acting up. I usually try to see max moser, but now that i have no warranty I take my e90 and e36 to
an Indy in lawrenceville, Bill Ballon. he's the best! and yes, I still get my discount!! |

can you give me more info on your indy in lawrenceville? b/c i have around 6,000 miles until my factory maintenance is over(i purchased a 5 year/100,000 extended warranty) and was wondering if it was wise to buy the extended maintenance warranty or just go to in indy shop wheres the labor rates are much cheaper then the dealer.. thanks

well that's tough. Bill is very quirky. great dude but you have to get to know him. yes, he's less than a dealer but he has more specialized equip and training than most dealers techs, so he still has overhead. he is extremely knowledgeable. I'll recommend you to him cause he doesn't take on too many new customers. he's that busy with return customers. I met him at pw and we have a motorcycle connection, so we were friendly before he serviced my car. you can check him out at billballonautomotive.com. I'm sure some of these other guys know of him.
he knows his shit man, but loves to tell you he hates your mods, lol! get on his good side and there is no one better to know for bimmer work. I wouldn't buy the maintenance but that's me. definitely warranty though. good move there. I know some other cats too and i love to diy which is why it seems I'll always own bimmers! |

some answers
happy belated New Year to all e90's and their drivers
was out for a few weeks and just went through all the threads Someone asked about the AFE intake---I have the Dual come oiled AFE feel free to PM questions as I have had 3 different AFE's on 3 different bmw's As for a local shop to do mods. Auto Tech in Gibsonia is a small reliable shop and dan is a master certified bmw and ferrari mechanic. He is a bit arrogant because he is overly knowledgable but can do the job I know the owner of Foreign Traffic in Allison Park and they are a dealership with very high turnover of german cars and they inspect and fix all their cars before the sale. They would definitely be more up to date with e90's as they do sell a lot of them. I would be happy to talk to Rob the owner to recommend us to their master mechanic and make sure we get excellent service. I have not had a need to use any of their services for my past present bmw's but have used Autotech in Gibsonia. www.foreign-traffic.com Anyone have a JB+ to sell? I am getting rid of my reliable, simple JB1 yeah 5-6 weeks until the rubber gets warm again! |
