2011 328i Convertible - good quote?

2011 328i Convertible with 3yr/36k miles lease:

MSRP : 54,2000/-
Sale price : 51,600/-
MF : 0.00230
Residual : 65%
Down pymt : $4000.00 (including tax, tag, other fees)
Monthly pymts: $689.00

Is this a good deal? I saw in another thread that the MF for this model this month is 00.00180, but the dealer denies and they say that BMW has stopped taking orders for the convertible and this is the one of the few available in the East Cost. They are kindda dictating the sale price.

I think the fare monthly payments must be around $650.00 not $690.00

Please advice...

I don't know about BMW stopping order for the 2011, not really sure if it's true. But just to give you some general info, the invoice price for this car should be around $49,900 + ($500 for dealer profit, which is about average.) = 50,400. So first off the dealer is making about 1,700 off this deal on the sale price alone. Which is really high and not a good deal at all.

Second, the current rate is 0.00180 (http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=482459) so the fact that the dealer is telling you it isn't this MF, is obvious he's trying to get as much profit from you. And using the supposed tactic of no more available against you, which may be true, but I believe you can still order a convertible. Remember, the dealer is allowed to mark up the base MF by up to .0004 but the number he's giving you is marked up by .0005. There was speculation that BMW had changed their september rates after first releasing them, but I have not confirmed this.

Plus the residual is 63%.

Also, Its advised to NOT make a down payment on a lease. If you total the car, its gone. So that 4,000 your putting down may cover some of your drive off fees which is fine but I would not suggest to make any part of it a cap cost reduction. If you want to lower your payment and have money to put down, make Multiple Security Deposits which lowers your MF, plus they are returned to you at lease end. But be aware the dealer you spoke with may do this and say that NOW you can have the base rate or something similar. The ideal situation is that you get the base rate and on top of that reduce your MF even more with the deposits.

I would suggest you definitely call around and email other dealers to ask about ordering the car, unless you absolutely need it right away.

Thanks for the tips E92Carrera. I did call few dealers nearby and they are saying the orders can still be taken. But no one wants to give out the actual money factor.

I think I am going to reject this offer and ask this dealer to reduce the cost.

Very few dealers will tell you the MF but you can look it up yourself. As others have mentioned the offer for Sept is .0018 for the car you mentioned. The residual is in fact 65% for 12K miles. So you're now armed with those numbers. The key is to walk into the dealership and negotiate openly. Just tell them you want to negotiate an amount over invoice and say you're only willing to pay buy rate for the money factor. This allows you to negotiate evenly over a couple dealerships.

As many will tell you, do not put down a large down payment on a lease. I always put nothing down (you will still have to pay first month plus fees etc)

Thanks dday. I think I am a little more confident than last night. I will take a shot tonight to re-negotiate.

Is it possible for a dealer to offer less MF than the usual. As E92Carrera mentioned earler, the MF can be raised upto .0004, but is it possible for a dealer to offer less. The reason I ask is, just now a dealer responded to my question and he is offering the MF at 0.00170.
