New 335iS Purchase Question

I am intending to purchase a 2011 335iS, it's fairly loaded so the retail price is north of $60k. I was looking for assistance from those of you recently involved in a purchase of this nature for the following advice:

1. What is a reasonable amount that the dealer would be willing to negotiate off of the MSRP?
2. If the car is already on the lot, as in my case, how would you approach the dealer regarding a wheel swap? I would really like to swap out the 19 inch 313's that the car in question has for the Style 269 or 311 in 19 inch. Would I get a credit for the current 313's and pay the difference in for the 269's or 311's? These are really expensive wheels,so any insight on this topic would be most appreciated. PS: The 313's are very cool, however, they just don't do it for me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Scratch any thought of MSRP.

Find out what their cost is (search here) and work from there to ensure they make a fair but modest profit. WHat that amount is will vary from dealer to dealer.

Congrats!

I'm picking up a new 335 coupe in early November with 19" style 230s. If you're interested in a swap, let me know and I can drive down to meet you.

You should get at least 3k off, maybe a little more depending on how the dealer is selling this month. And most dealers will switch wheels if they have them in stock. Rarely will they take them off another new car.

Negotiate from invoice. You can get $500 without much hassle. Remember the price increase coming - I think 11/1 ?

search for that pdf that was released about their pricing...we paid 500 over that price. Saved a killing, our sales rep only made 300 on us!

Just for your purposes, I got a msrp 62,175 car down 4,150 off the window price. This was in June and was one of the first coupe IS's in north america so the whole "new model" thing was certainly in their minds. 1k of my markdown was a manufacturer incentive so the dealer only took price down 3150 out of their own profit. They still made over 1k on my deal. I think 4k+ off or bust.
This economy is in the pooper still. Not that many people are wanting to drop that kind of money on a compact sport coupe.

No idea about the wheels, but $500 above invoice is what I got. Don't go any higher.

I got mine two weeks ago. Here's what I did: I used the american xpress car buying service to get quotes from different dealers as well as researched the invoice price. Once, I got a reasonable quote, I then went online to bmw's website to spec the car and got preapproved. With the preapproval email in hand, I went to the dealership and got close to invoice for the car. Oh yeah, the dct discount is still being offered until the end of this month. Good luck.

In August I ordered a 2011 335is Black/Black with premium pkg,DCT and HK premium sound. The MSRP was $56,725.00 and I am leasing for $52,495.00 or $855 per month. Can't help you with the tire question. The 313's are the bomb!!!! Good Luck

wow north of 60k... Other then, high compression engine, gas guzzler, no low-end torque.. did u consider the M3? MSRP for my car (non-dct) which is 98% loaded, was north of 60K too.

This has been discussed a lot before. A lot of the time, IS seekers are not looking into sedans. If you did a comparison between a loaded 335is and a loaded e92 M3, the difference is almost always 11-13k. Also, people who are willing to buy a loaded 335is usually don't want a stripped down M3 in either sedan or coupe form. If you only care about a car's performance, then you can buy a stripped m3 or a stripped 335is in which the price differential remains intact.

I apologize if this was discussed a lot before. I was unaware. A simple question to the OP thats all. No harm... I was a 335 owner with procede. I actually miss it.

oh no I wasn't giving you a hard time, sorry if it came across that way. Just was saying that it comes up a lot because some people think a 335is is crazy overpriced and a lot would rather have a stripped down M3 as you brought up. Different priorities for everyone

No problem Edwards. To be honest, I havent looked at the 335is specs. I don't even know what it's all about. I should've did some research before posting.

I've read many m3 vs 335 debates. And I think its childish. I didn't want to come off as an egotistic/arrogant M3 owner if you felt that way. Both are great cars. To me, 335 drivers get the same respect as M3. So does 328's... It's all about the Bimmers!

oops.......I bought an M3

Well, the 335iS had been sold, I was really angry about this, however, they persuaded me to test an M3 ZCP, fully loaded, DCT etc. What a machine!! Alpine white with black extended leather, now sitting in my driveway! Thanks for the detailed and thoughtful responses.
