Are you using Halogen bulbs or HIDs?

The only way to get a truly awesome beam pattern in terms of width, clarity, uniformity and cutoff is to retrofit an upgraded projector unit into the Depo headlight housing... this will also allow you to run a 'bi-xenon' setup as well so your high beams and low beams will come from the same projector/bulb.
HIDs with yellow angel eyes. It has the projector.

I had subaru tribeca before and the xenon light on that was fantastic.

Definite, the distribution is strange on the depo unit

I had the tribeca MY09 and the shape was better than the previous model.

I replaced the tribeca with BMW X5 2008. The X5 is much better looking and is in another league, but the headlight of the X5 is still inferior to the tribeca (and the engine of the tribeca was more powerful).

Sorry, off topic a bit.

you're a comedian.

It's a $65K car and kept good resale value. I can't complain.

bmroxm5, any other suggestion ? Do you have any pics of your light projection pattern in the dark ?

Unfortunately no other pics and this setup is actually on my friends car that I installed for him. Next time I see him I'll try get some pics or take a mental image of how it looks.

Lucky I found an installer nearby

He think it might be the wire that runs across the bulb causing the black line.

LT5PLA, did you have any problem with the light distribution ?

The filament should be in the '6oclock' position, ie facing down...

If it's a wire running across it should be fairly obvious as you'd be able to see it from outside the car.

I have pictures of the beam pattern from HIDs I installed in Depo P82 headlights (1series) from last week will upload them tonight.

I rotate the light on the right side slightly and the distribution has changed. The light seem smoother and the black line has moved.

Can't get access to the left side, so I'll leave it to the installer.

More tweaking required.
