argh! e46 17x7.5j don't fit E91 330i

Well, that was an interesting hour wasted... I bought a set of BMW alloys with winter tyres off ebay that someone had been using on their E90 320d. They're 17", original BMW, and I thought they'd fit.

They don't. They don't clear the brakes on my 330i E91. This is rather annoying!

Fronts are 205/50R17s on BMW 17x7.5 wheels
Rears are 225/45R17s on BMW 17x7.5 wheels

Managed to get the rears swapped over then started on the front. Of course after making a small adaptor for the jacking points that BMW helpfully give us...

Looks like I need another set of alloys that will fit these tyres. Any suggestions?

Maybe spacer to front will help you get the clearance you need. E46 has higher front offset than E90. So if you push the wheel out more it might fit.

Check out tire racks selection for 17" tires for your car. That was the only place I could find winter rims that cleared the breaks on my 06' 330i.

You have to choose winter tire and wheel combos to get back to it but theses should fit your car. Also just saw that you're in Yorkshire, so this may not be feasible.

Actually, come to think of it, I wonder if a spacer might help as there's a step on the alloy. Time for another look!

I'm not generally a fan of spacers, but if this works it might save a big headache.

I've bought another set of 17s that do fit that came with tyres... Seemed easier given the price of spacers!

Non-fitting are now for sale
