I had the one in this pic, but blue arround 1992 for 4 Years and 180?000 km. It was lowered, nice wheels and was a blast to drive. And NOTHING broke, not one little piece, even I drove it like a racecar!

I drove a few... love the driving experience but hate the way it makes me feel when I look at it. Not a good looking car in my opinion.

Miatas were uncool for a long time. I'd deff agree embarrassing.

It's like two men riding together on a 50cc scooter.

embarassing cars that I like and would be my short list for purchasing if I moved somewhere that had a long commute to work:

Juke
Kia Soul
the current Civic Hatchback (Sport / Type R)
current Prius, and especially the Prius Prime

It's kind of funny how the Mazda small sports convertible is widely mocked. The Toyota/Subaru 86/BR-S also not taken very seriously. Honda builds the S2000 following a similar concept and people fawn over it. Was it that the Miata was too "cute"?

No it's because the S2000 actually had an engine in it rather than a mouse powering a wheel.

I had one as a rental car in 2001 and logged several hundred miles in it. I couldn't believe it was a GM car.

Good luck finding one that has been properly taken care of and not too badly mangled :/

I always thought the Neon SRT4's were awesome despite the roll down back windows... the Caliber SRT4, not so much

Riding a moped or driving a Miata is like being with a fat chick, a fun ride until you're friends find out.

Your loss. My Miata was great, more fun than my M Coupe in town, and almost as fun on the track. Brilliant little car, I'd have another if I didn't lug the kid around all the time. I even considered buying an ND and a Fit just to make it happen.

Guilty as charged.

I always thought the Lincoln LS was a classy looking whip.

Secretly want a Dodge Avenger too, something about those rear quarters.

There was a guy who lived a few blocks from my old house with a white GS manual. I think he thought it was a LaFerrari. He drove that thing matted everywhere, like the gas and brakes were digital, either on or off. Always made me laugh.
