petrol

Just filled the car up and parked up at home and noticed a small patch of petrol on the floor anyone else had this before? Is it common or do you think I have a leak somewhere?

Fuel tank breather pipe split. Try a search, it's a common problem.

Apparently there's a pipe that leaks sometimes.

Yep, it rubs through on a section of chassis. Pain in the ass to replace I hear.

It's going back it on Tuesday, they can replace it for me as I only bought the car on Wednesday! It's no wonder they wouldn't fill it up for me....

My E87 has this but only if you fill beyond the first click to the edge of the filler, which to be honest is overfilling anyway. I just stop at the first click and its never done it since.

It's still a potential hazard man.

It's just unacceptable from bmw. What if someone threw a ciggi butt and boom your car blows up because it was leaking petrol...

Agree that it's a hazard and far from ideal but a cigarette butt will not ignite petrol vapours, unless it's a Hollywood movie of course!

I'd be asking the Mrs why there was petrol in her 118d!
