Question GI: E90 and E92 WideBody kits

Hey Guys,
Im wondering if there is any interest in widebody kits for the e90 and e92?

Im talking fully new panels, fenders, bumpers, skirts - the whole thing.

about as wide as the M3, +1-2"

Vote up, or if you have suggestions/requests let me know.

Just gauging interest for the moment.

a Widebody kit would fit both the PreLCI and LCI e90.

Still working out all the details, This is basically just seeing if it would be worth it to entertain the idea of a kit.

I would think Carbon fiber, Metal, Duraflex or something along those lines, but its up in the air.

What do you guys want it made out of?

I like the idea of knowing it's possible (if it's made that is), but can't really say for sure.
I would have to see it in person and know the price, but for now, I will say yes for the E92 and E90 (I drive an E92, so I would love to see how it turns out for the E92).

keep us posted with updates!!!

the pic above is TOO wide... that's like what, a 6" widened body? jeesh!

at most, 4"... that would allow 10.5" - 11" wheels nicely!

@Gavin... see, now you should REALLY hire me down there, i can draw up a mean widebody!

i might just do that sometime this week... draw up a e90 widebody... i haven't drawn anything in a long time but i'm sure it won't be as bad as stick figure.

Yes, E90 pre-LCI 1-2" wide body. Whatever OEM is made of, just have the parts the same way. If I can make my 328i look like an M, in my mind I have an M in my garage!

I wish my car was the guinea pig!

EXTREMELY INTERESTED in an E92 wide body kit if the price is right. I personally wouldn't want carbon fiber because that would drive up the cost insanely high.

Stock materials (PU for the bumpers and front fenders, and metal for the rear quarters) should be good.

M3 + 2" would be too much. M3 + 1" would be good. The above picture is too extreme, looks terrible.

in a lot of cases, you can get a custom widebody for cheap(er) anyway when you go for a full paint job...

has to be made out of metal. no duraflex bs.

you also need to sell each panel separately in case people damage them.

you also have to somehow keep the cost lower than going with custom fabrication (which seems nearly impossible)

yeah stock m3 doesn't even look wide compared to non-m. for us who actually own the cars in question, we scrutinize, so we can see the difference. for others, it all looks the same, especially on dark colored cars.

from a functional standpoint, M fenders are good enough i suppose. i think people can fit up to 275 up front with 18" wheels. no reason to go wider

people are getting 305 in the rear on stock m3 fenders, so there's no reason to go wider there either.

Go big or go home?

But on a serious note, I think it would be great to see just the front fenders replaced with a wider kit. Example: http://www.evolutionracewerks.com/?q=node/55

What Evolution Racewerks did with the 1 series. I would get that in a heartbeat to run some wider tires up front, roll the rears and be able to go 285 square.

Obviously a whole kit would be nice, but just having that option would net more sales.

Just my $.02

Do it for the e92 please.

But this is going to be difficult, since the rear quarter is a huge panel (and a metal one too). Shipping would be difficult and expensive. Do you plan on something that can be weld to the existing quarter panel? Then you just need to design a new fender liner, and we can reuse our existing rear bumper.

For the front you can do the same thing, or you can make new fenders, and a new front bumper. But I care mostly about the rear since the rear is where the wheel rubbing is at.

I said + 1-2" from an M3 body.If you do that you not only get customer from the M class but also from the regular class as well. If its the same as M body, the only customer you will get is from non M, so keep that in minds. Also add some slot or hole in there to give it meaner looking
