Umm.. I think I like it, maybe. I was def hoping for the E92 headlights if they were going to change the grille. At this point, its all about what they do to the interior (if anything) since the exterior is so minor. Not feeling that hood at all and for the love of god lose the mirrors!

Front looks better without the moustache, apart from that not much of an improvement........mirrors look like a bad joke . Wish they would do something with the interior, which IMO looks a bit outdated - especially the hideous (again my opinion)navi/Idrive screen. Would be much better with a flip up like the 1-series.

i suspected it as well.. but check this out.. these people are always VERY VERY close to production/concept looks. Remember the e92 m3? the blue one? when it had the licence plate on the bumper like the m6? I think they had it too. but u know what, it was very f"n close! the bumper was the same except for the license plate placement.

I'm certain bmw is going the rout of making 4doors looke coupe'ish.. thats where alot more are going now.. since mercs said ef it and came out with the cls.

The new 5 is headed that route as well.

I Wish!!!

But, the caption says: Optish tut sich einiges, technish eher wenig.

Basically, small visual changes, not much mechanically different...

I see where you are coming from. You have some point. Yes it was the last to receieve a revision. But since then, its characteristics has been show in other revisioned models to follow. First off, BMW gave us the realiztion that all models WILL be different from each other opposed from the the last gen of e39, e46, and so forth (which all looked like longer and shorter versions of each other).

Everyone is looking for the CS theme in the 7. So am I too, but... i think the misconception here is that I just see BMW characteristics in them all. The point I was trying to make, was validated simply by showing that the 3 series is usually the longest lasting model? if not its the last to get redesign. In redesigning it, they need to have a design that will last long enough for years to come (until a redesign is made and until all newer models are released).

I hope i didnt say or make u think i meant 3series ENTIRELY hints all of where BMW is going. I think you can grab from all and see, but because the 3 is the last to get revised/redesigned and lasts long (approx 6yrs). However, the shadow/character line on the side, since the e90, has been and will be adopted on all models. (Yes i know its signature BMW, but BMW revised the character line. ) The angel eyes DRLs on the e92, has since, been adopted on all other models. The LED lines on the 7/6 and e92, has since, been adopted on all other models... I know the 3 is at the bottom of fully loaded features, but some design clues have to be there.

Watch the design explanation video of the e90/e92 on BMW.com or somewhere else.

It's no big deal to me. lol Just something I kinda noticed.

Nothing in the 3er really points to the future of BMW's design since it appears to be headed towards the CS theme, which is likely to begin with the F01 7-series. The character lines on the side, running through the door handles is nothing new. It has been there since BMW's existence. They've changed a little over several generations, some not running through the door handles, but the character lines have always been there.

Also, is it just me or is the door for the fuel tank missing? It also appears that the character line disappears at the end of the rear door, instead of flowing all the way to the taillight. May be a shadow or bad view but it appears to be a PS. Nonetheless, this is probably a near perfect depiction of what the '09 sedan will look like.

perfect, this is the dead give away! i remember noticing differences in the bumper sharp shapes... thats it! I am going to go forward and confirmt his new design as final. I am skeptical of the mirrors. (PLease no gay turn signals like MB and Acura)

Overall I'm annoyed at BMW. They decided to make the E90 and E92 with similar bodywork but with different front/rear designs. Now they have put the E92 front on the E90 M3 yet the rear of the E90 M3 is staying the same Now they are facelifting the stock E90 to have new E92 grilles but not headlights, and again the rear lights will be different. What the hell man?

Here's that old spypic:

I like it except for the mirrors.

I have a feeling that front bumper would be a great "base" for lip kits.
