Good place to get springs installed?

Hey Guys,

I need to get a set of H&R Sport springs installed in the Chicago land area. Recommend any shops?

Thanks for the help!

Pricing is going to vary. But I think it'll take about 2-2.5 hours of labor. A&L charges 48/hr for forum members. I know ams is like 90-100/hr. Comparing to the dealers which is around 120/hr

I guess doing it yourself is not an option if you are asking for local shops. Just an idea, it is a fairly simple install.

I've done spring/shock/strut installs on my E46 previously, but with the weather being so cold, and no access to a garage at the moment, it will be torture haha. So I need to shell out some extra cash

I don't know, but I'd bet that they could install an exhaust and know whether it is going to rattle or not, or better....you know what fuck it.

Here is my A&L story:

The f'd up my DP install. The way they put the bolts on looked like my kids did it. One bolt was completely stripped and stuck half in.

I know one other forum member here that had to wait all day for their car as they took it apart only to find out that they could not complete the job that they said they would.

They always overbook, and my car was never ready on time. One time it was 3 hours late as I stood there and nobody called me to tell me that they were not going to finish on time.

So long story short, A&L is cheap, sure. The people are nice enough. But in my experience their work is crap unless you are dropping a ton of $$ on them and they will never touch my car again, I will never recommend them to anyone, ever. In fact, I would encourage forum members to not use them. I'd be willing to pay twice as much to have quality work done by quality professionals.

Guess, I won't be going to the meet up at their location.

How do you all deal with the speed bumps and Chicago winters with spring swaps? Take things slow I would guess is the motto? I'm considering Eibach springs but I'm just worried about the potholes, speed bumps that litter the neighborhoods and of course winters in general.

I usually have most of my work done at Fall-Line Motorsports but I'm not sure what their labor costs are. You'l also need an alignment after the install so a shop that could do all that at once would be ideal.

i try to dodge holes as much as possible. + unless it's day out I don't venture into new/unknown roads. And roads that i've been on, i know where the holes are. Also sometimes i take a slight detour if the road is too crappy.

I spoke to Anthony at A&L and he said its 300 for install and alignment. We got the front bumper on my GF's E90 replaced and repainted, and it came out very nice. But it did take a while tho. I tried to contact the other place and they didn't respond back to me.

I had springs/shocks done on my previous E46, and it wasn't really a problem driving around in Chicago. Hitting a pothole with the factory sport suspension and OEM wheels is not much better than hitting it with aftermarket springs. Depending how big the pothole, you're bound to see damage one way or another.
