What's the fastest way to use up the pads?

I have the inconsistent squeak problem as well (sounds like break sensor rub). I'm bringing car in next week for warranty work. SA will go for a drive to diagnosis problem. It will be interesting how they will handle it.

This is a well known issue.

SI B 34 03 09

Print this TSB out and hand it to them when you take your car in. Demand they replace your brake pads. It seems that only the rear axle is affected. Tech told me it's the compound used in the pads that starts to squeak after a certain amount of wear even though it still has plenty of life. I've had my rear pads replaced twice already under warranty. Last pad replacement was a couple of months ago. I was told the new pads have a different compound and shouldn't squeak as it wears; we'll see.

They replaced both the brake pads and sensors and guess what the noise is back within 2 weeks...I noticed that in the M today as well...

this happens with my car also.

But the brakes/car need to be heated. It doesnt happen first thing in the morning, or after the brakes cool.

It happens after rush hour or stop and go city driving. Seems like there is no cure.

sucks because im out of warrenty also.

Sounds like you need to bed your brakes.

They must perform the TSB, PERIOD. Your SA sounds like an idiot or a dick; maybe both. Take your car to another dealership and do it in person, not over the phone.

He told me that he looked at the TSB before? and that My brake squeal doesnt apply to that TSB, its the brake pad touching the rotor?

OK GUYS
I've had enough of this, its driving me insane. I am gonna call BMW NA and complain about my SA manager. He's the one that always talks to me. I never have regular SA's that deal with my problems. I just want to buy my own pads and rotors. Now, if I buy the OEM brakes and not put the sensor on, will it still squeak?? if they will, which brake kit should i buy?? Please help..

Join the party. I've complained about mine 5+ times. Replaced the pads once and that fixed it for a month or three. It's back now. Just like others say...it's fine when cold. Once warm, they squeak when going slow.

must......go......fast.....

But seriously, I have sort of been able to replicate the sound by rolling backwards downhill and pull on the parking brake. Sounds like a thousand pieces of chalk on a chalkboard, reeeeally bad.

And when I took it in they said they checked out the TSB, and could not replicate the sound. Another interesting thing, my car is at about 16000 miles, the front brakes (via i drive vehicle condition check) show due for service in 33000, but the BACK brakes show due in 4000. ?? Hmmm, wonder if there is a correlation to the squeel and the brake sensor, etc.

mine definitely happens first thing in the morning. it's worst going around slow corners with the window down, especially in parking garage when everyone including myself can hear it. if i post a video of the sound, will anyone be able to tell me if they have the same noise? it's almost a rubbing/squeaking noise...and it's awful!

does anyone already have a video of the noise?

i hope it's just the sensor rubbing, that seems like an easy fix....can we just remove the sensor???

Do you still have this TSB available? I have the same issue in my 335i where when I am driving at low speeds the right side of my car squeaks until I pass 20 MPH.

Thanks!
