Open trunk when battery is disconected (E90 Euro)
I had this same issue on an 2011 E90 (European model). In the EUROPEAN VERSIONS of the e90 there is no keyhole for the boot above the license plate. Also no release lever for the boot inside the car. ALSO there is no way to let down/ remove the back seats from inside the car (this can only be done from inside the boot). When the battery is fully disconnected and power cables are dissembled in the boot you wont be able to get power by jumping the car from positive and negative terminals on the engine block either. Your best bet then is to find the main lead of wires leading back into the boot from under a cover on the passenger side floor just at the door edge. You can cut through the large red cables until you can connect jump cables from a charger unit and get power from there. The boot should open then using the button on carkeys.

Getting rid of the trunk lock has got to be one of BMW's dumber decisions. I wonder which Harvard MBA came up with that penny pinching idea.
Luckily my 2009 E90 with a Oct 2008 build date still has the lock for whatever reason. |

Just chiming in here - looks like the LCI E90 had the trunk lock until 01/2009.
My old LCI 335i had the lock, never used it though. Interestingly the part without the trunk lock is $8 more expensive… |

This is an addition to a previous post I made on this thread. 2011 335d with no battery in it. Trunk closed and locked. My son studied the wiring diagram and got the trunk to unlatch my opening up the fuse box and computer box; and engery-zing the latch somehow. Its been six months ago (5/2023), and he doesn't remember exactly what he did and I wasn't paying attention at the time, as I was working on something else. I had forgotten about him going into the fuse box (the one behind the glove box) but we were looking over things before firing up the 335d after mods and maintenance; and noticed he had disconnected the lower electrical panel that plugs into the lower fuse box assembly. I hope this helps.

If jumping the car doesn't work or if the batt is disconnected try this:
Those who have split folding seats and a ski pass through, that panel can be taken out. Reach in and use clothes hanger to pull the emergency trunk release cord. |

Yep, that is what my son did. Engerized trunk latch through fuse panel in glove box. He doesn't remember which fuse he engerized.
