335xi Overheatiing

I was driving last night when my car gave me a overheating error and went into limp mode. I need to get the car towed to Budds, but i have a couple tunes done to the car. I will be uninstalling my JB4 today, but i also have a dci installed.

Problem is i don't have the stock intake, do you guys think budds could end up denying my cpo claim because of the dci?

It's sounds like your water pump is dead, common issue for our cars..

DCI should not be a problem going in.

As much as you can, try to go back to oem. You want to avoid giving them the chance to blame it on something else.

They have their own performance division, and can tune via Dinan.

So I would say they might be a little more understanding, but not JB4 installed understanding

Budds Oakville is pretty mod friendly.

I bring in my modified car all the time to them (328). They don't have a problem with it. I would remove the tune for good measures.

i just went through the same issues last week. Had the car towed to BMW toronto and it sat from Monday until Thursday because I didnt have an appointment. I dont have any engine performace mods though.

Once the car got into the shop, it was determined that the water pump and thermostat failed. The original cost to fix was 1300+tax but then I asked if any of it was covered under CPO.

Only the water pump was covered under CPO. The thermostat ended up costing $640 parts + labor. What gets me is that I think to change the water pump the thermostat has to come out as well...sucks that I still had to pay for labour and that the CPO water pump work could not cover it.

good luck

FYI -- if your extended warranty is via CoverageOne, and the claim is over 1K, they will send an inspector to look at your car first, prior to approving the estimate..

So i heard back from budds... same thing as prez... water pump is covered but thermostat is not.

However they are only charging me $250 for parts and labour for the thermostat and $50 for the cpo work.

Wow, that's a very fair deal.... ECS has the thermostat replacement kit for $112 alone...

Really? they are charging for thermostat now? wow when i had my car towed into budds hamilton the thermostat was covered. at least they aint charging you a ridiculous price. 250 seems fair for what they have to do

They have their own "tune" division, but they will likely complain if they did not do your modifications. All in all, they have terrible service...the only good thing about them is the free coffee that they offer...so I assume that your car is still under warranty?

Haven't had any issue with Budds and both my BMW and Mini get serviced by them. Depends on the SA you deal with. I only deal with one SA that helps me out whenever I need it.
