A long day yesterday

After no sleep I got to the airport at 7.30 yesterday and got home about 8.30 last night, felt like a Zombie but I`m fixed now, shame the weathers not (back to bed I think)

Anyway heres some initial thoughts.

Had a bit of a drag with a Monaro VXR yesterday who couldn`t quite keep up from 50-100 (about 6 secs in 3rd) obviously I don`t know how hard he was trying but he was right up my arse and would`ve heard me gearing down 1 at a time to 3rd, the guy also carried on past like a lunatic when I backed off, swerving from the on ramp straight to lane 3 through cars like a slalom.

My exhaust is blowing very slightly at the front joint so I`m off to see a friend later and will hopefully get some times on the G-tech. Looking back on previous times I`d say the M3 was doing 50-100 in about 8 secs (but that's a passing time on a 1/4 mile run, ie. accelerating flat out in 2nd upto 65, then changing up to 3rd) my run yesterday was from a static 50 in 3rd, If I`d dropped to 2nd and took off it would`ve been a little quicker again I think, even with an extra gear change back to 3rd. I`d be surprised if I couldn`t see 0-100 in less than 11 secs.

The water and oil temperature haven`t changed, the car idles exactly the same and the only noise I get from the charger is a little whistle between 1-2K rpm as it starts to spin up, quite amusing watching peoples faces as you manouvere to the fuel pump.

Talking of fuel the OBC has remained the same 28.5 for yesterdays run home as its calculations are based on how often the injectors fire not how much fuel they shoot (so I`m told) I don`t know how much bigger the injectors are over OEM but my brim to brim calculations came to 22.9 mpg for the 350 mile run at a steady 80 mph, so it seems to be roughly 15-20% out.

I`ve spent just over 12K on it since Aug but that's it now the next mod will be a Z4M coupe (I`ve already spoken to Simpsons about the possibility of swapping the charger over) but not `till the end of the year.

I think I`d quite easily get 50% of that back if I stripped them off and sold them at a fair price to other forum members (I did with the E90 and my old E46) but TBH the best bits will also fit the Zed.

He is going dutch but doesn't understand the meaning of paying his half!

That does not bode well to those of you expecting Carl to be buying the first round at UK5
