what version do i have?

i have a 08 335i with all options except cruise and rear video camera. it took 2 months for it to be built and shipped over. i picked it up on Nov. 20-30 some where around there. so do i have the version with the lag problem?

If you mean v 29.2 then no not unless your car was updated at the dealer since you got it last Nov. 29.2 was released around March/April 08.

Well we're talking about two different things here. MSD81 is the hardware version of the ecu. I thought you were asking about the software version that causes lag which is 29.2. You might have an 81 ecu and you can check that yourself by pulling the ecu out and looking at the sticker. MSD81 by itself doesn't add the lag, but it does enable mod detection I believe. The software version on the other hand you can't get except by having the dealer scan it, at least that's the only way I know of. Either way if you have the v81 ecu it's the less tune friendly version. My car with 30.2 and msd81 is about the same speed with a tune as some older cars are stock.

You don't have MSD81.

MSD81 didn't get put into production cars until March/April of this year. My car was built around the same time yours was, so you probably have the progman 28.xx. If you search it is the progman update that changed the iPod scrolling is how I remember it by.
