Newbie Question
Gents,
Excuse what I am going to ask but I rather play safe than sorry. Any who I am looking into several cars for an up coming purchase and for starters I know looking at a car fax is one of many steps to know more about the history of the car but when it comes down to doing a PPI how do you typically go about it? Do you just walk in say I am interested in this car can I get a PPI done and if all checks out ok we move onto the next phrase? Or you put down a little payment take the car and come back? I made a mistake before sure not looking to make an other one. Thank you kindly. |

a PPI is well spend $$. Find a local BMW indie in your area that would do a good PPI job. BMWCCA is a good place to start to find a good indie shop in your area.

Just tell them you want a PPI. If the vendor gives ANY grief about it, then cross that car off your list immediately. Prima Facie evidence that they have something to hide. A quality vendor will welcome a PPI, and go out of their way to accommodate you.
However, don't assume that the vendor will agree to fix every little thing that the PPI finds. It's a used car, it will likely have some faults. The PPI is a negotiating tool. Of course, if the car is still under warranty, I would expect BMW to fix whatever is found.

Before you take the car for inspection, negotiate with the seller to make all PPI repairs to the vehicle at their cost upon the negotiated price. This will usually stop the seller from allowing you to take the car for a PPI if they know something is wrong. This could save you a few PPI cost!

Basically walk in look around the car I am interested in than mention I want a PPI done? Than from their if everything checks out ok we shall move on? What if they say that they'll do the PPI themselves? I heard about some situations like that. Thank you for that last information. I figured that they won't fix every little detail but it is a great negation tool. |

Ah yes even better! Thank you. Now I know. Do they freely let a person take the car or do they send someone from their dealership with you? |

By the way, make sure the dealer that is selling the car is not owned by the same dealer doing your inspection!

A comment on deposits - credit card deposits only. That way if there is any grief about getting it back, you can get it back from the issuing bank themselves.
