Do cars headed for the west coast stop over in the east coast? Im expecting my ED car to be in Oxnard CA on Jan 17, so I'm not sure if my car would be on this ship. (I haven't found out what ship its on yet) - thanks

Most likely no, but you can verify that. Go to http://www.2wglobal.com/www/WEP/index.jsp --> Customer Center --> Cargo Tracking --> Auto Cargo and put in your VIN there.

What really concerns me is that I cannot find any news about that. Somebody saw the damaged cars, took photos, and posted them. But how do we know it's only 300 or 400 cars? How can we be sure the rest of the cars that are going to SC are not all damaged? Who gave that number? Is it 300-400 cars in NY only, or is that the total number? Too bad they keep us uninformed. It's not that hard to walk around and scan the VINs on a few hundred cars that were damaged and update the BMWNA customer service or open a hot line.

I agree. How many cars were on the ship in total? If it's 800, then maybe our cars are ok. If it's 500, then chances are good they are damaged. Where are these reports of 300 damaged, and 70 totaled even coming from?

Yup i tried that, and nothing came up. Then again, when I got my bill of lading # and tried on the NYK site, nothing came up either, so i have no clue. I sent out a mail to my CA, hopefully i'll find out what vessel i'm on. Feel bad for those with cars on that ship, but im just really hoping mine isnt on it...

Yours is not there then. They updated the tracking info after the boat left England. Your CA is the best person to tell you the name of the boat.

I totally agree, except that I don't think it matters what model it is -- it's that person's car. I don't think any of the M3's were customer cars, just preliminary deliveries for demo, training, etc. And I would feel altogether differently if someone working on the dock or on the vessel were injured. Otherwise . . . just stuff. Not a world calamity.

You guys are looking at the wrong shipping line. Go to 2wglobal.com, click on cargo tracking, auto cargo, and put in your VIN.

These ships carry something like 3,000 cars. Worse things have happened:http://www.tricolorsalvage.com/pages/home.asp

The Courage is rated to carry a maximum of 6,118 vehicles. That makes the percentage of allegedly damaged cars about 6% if it was full.

I don't think cars headed for the west coast generally stop on the east coast. It takes long enough as it is to come out this way...that extra stop would probably make it a month-long voyage. As it is, mine took from 12/7/07 to 1/5/08 to get delivered to Port Hueneme....
