$5500 to certify???!?!? help needed
I am looking at a 2011 335i m-sport, and the dealer (BMW) has it listed as a used (not certified) car, with only 33K miles. I told them I want to certified and asked why it was not. they said they don't certify many of teir cars to keep the price point down. I searched their site and they have a lot of low mileage 2011 BMWs that are not certified so this seems legit.
here's the odd part, when I asked how much to get it as a CPO, the price went up $5500. and the salesman didn't even know if it needed new tires. I figured maybe $2000-$2500 to certify it. any ideas why they would do that? it has a clean carfax. |

How about you just buy an Extended Warranty from BMW? You can wait a bit since your car is still under warranty and it will be much cheaper (almost half).

update: went to the dealership, and the 335i msport and 328i msport were both in rough shape for 2 year old cars. needed tires, front bumper aprons pulled and torn, etc.
i'm changed my search and am looking at a new 2013 328i msport... |

You should drive one first...I think you'll go back to what you originally wanted.

When I was in the market for a used BMW (from the dealership), I encluntered this also. You just need to be patient because one day you will find one that is mint.

He probably figured that his price point can't afford a 335 m sport in good condition and that a 328 is a better bet

Route 66 seems to be a good choice. iirc BMW does not actually write service warranty/ext warranties... they are all underwritten by another 3rd party company. |

That car has some issues.....test drive it and if all is well maybe have a third party do a PPI on it and see what they think it needs.........you may get a sweet deal without the certification....but do your homework and walk away if it's not ringing all your bells.
