BMS WW meth FAQ?
Hi all, new to the forums. I'll be getting a 2008-2009 e90 335i or a 535i in the next few months so starting to do my research. Lots of great info on here, thanks guys!I got the mod bug bad on previous WRX's and MS3 so I want to keep it pretty simple this time while getting some good power. I'll be getting the BMS JB4 or Cobb AP & DCI's day one. Other than that, I am thinking meth but have a lot to learn since I never went that route in the past. I thought I saw a good FAQ on here last week regarding the BMS WW quick install meth kit but can't find it now. Have I lost my mind? I find lots of good stuff on the install and reviews of performance, but not the "after" like how often I'll need to fill up, can I switch to a non meth map and shut it off easily, how do I maintain it, how does the FSB work? If anyone knows of a good thread on theis, please let me know.
Thanks and cheers |

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=669688 Feel free to read the above. Majority stem from cracked WW necks or caps coming off and sloshing meth on the turbo side of the engine. |

Plenty of fires? Why is it that I have never read one situation of a fire?
Someone saying "my buddy this" and "my buddy that" means nothing to me. Unless, I see pics and actual facts that cars are catching fire, its all bs to me. |

If you want pics shoot me a PM. IF it wasn't obvious enough people dont BOAST about their car catching on fire because its pretty hard to get insurance money if they know the cause.... There is about 3-4 instances just in that thread alone. I know of 1 personally, locally. |

I see your point Jeff. Makes sense.
That's pretty messed up if this is a common occurrence. Definitely makes me think twice. What if you have a BOV and running meth? |

There is also the chance of the filler neck cracking overtime from heat and corrosion. Edit- It should be noted that installers I've spoken to recommend to their customers to only put in at most 1 gallon in the WW tank. I'm not telling anyone how to run their meth kit but they should be aware of certain flaws in the design of the WW style setups. I recommend at a minimum some sort of method of tying down the cap but I always suggest moving to a trunk mount tank. Unfortunately their is no bullet proof methanol system so one needs to weigh in the pros and cons and risk assessment on their own. Last edited by Jeff@TopGearSolutions; 04-30-2012 at 07:55 PM.. |
