720 is NOT high at all. You can't even get a clutch changed in a honda for under 500 these days. And there is a LOT more work needed to be done with a BMW. Average shop will quote 7-10 hours, which is anywhere from 700 to 1000 bucks labor.

Be happy you don't own an older 911. The engine and trans have to come out of the car to do a clutch. Book time is 23 hours. a good Porsche shop will charge 2500 at least to change a clutch, not including parts (oil change is necessary because you have to drain the system, add 200 to the bill)

I think 720 is not a bad price at all. I charge a little more than that but given the huge PITA it is, I think any shop can fairly quote that.

Wow... if Matt says that he charges more than that, then that sounds like a good price, Chris. I was about to tell you to go to Matt to get the clutch installed. lol!

GL bro!

I've had a lot of things done at KMD over the years. They're a great shop. If you pay in cash, they generally sweeten the deal a bit. Also, you can talk to Bill at Bimmer Clinic in Elizabeth, or John at Broadway Performance in Passaic.

Well it's alright. I found a legit BMW shop that will do my install for pennies compared to 700

Gl with your venture. I don't know of many shops that would do it for less than what warranty pays at the dealer, so hats off to you.

well im sure you guys would trust a bmw dealer mechanic. i know i would thats why i went with that route and b.c of the price
Matt and Sal im sure 700 is a reasonable price for our cars, a price i wouldnt think it would be near to install a clutch but after all its a bmw i should of expected that. thank god i found something cheaper.
matt- are you the same matt that has been on e90post for a while that did 50 dollar spring installs? either way can you PM me a price of spring install

Yes Matt=itsBROKEagain. I HIGHLY doubt Matt ever did spring installs for $50. His quality of work alone is worth more than $50.

damn then idk who it was that was charging 50 bucks for springs or maybe i got the price wrong.
but liek i said im sure 700-800 is a good price for our cars but im sure if you found a shop that charges less and has a good rep you would go with that shop too
matt im not saying that you charge to much or your shop sucks b.c first ive never been there and 2nd ive only heard good things about ur shop on the forum and even outside the forum
