If the analyst concluded your engine oil is okay, then you are okay. But brief explanation behind all the technical and testing backgrounds that goes behind engine oil results. The main (ppm) tests is to determine the amount of certain material that is in your engine oil.
Metals (ppm) - the content of different metals present in the engine oil (in ppm), these will be normal metals founds in your engine (block, walls, cylidner etc.) and can be found in the engine oil due to wear Contaminants (ppm) - content that is not suppose to be in your engine oil, various sources of where it came from (again, your analyst concluded that is okay) Additives (ppm) - content that may be added to the Castrol Engine Oil or any additives you may have put through (i.e. fuel system cleaner), not harmful but excess amount can raise questions. Contaminants (Water and Coolant) - amount of water or coolant found.. self explanatory on how it may get in there Physical Tests (Viscosity) - the minimum and maximum value (at 100oc) of the kinematic viscosity of the oil you used. If it is within the range, results are OK Physical Test (BN - base number) - a grade in your oil that is used to fight contaminants and other things that may affect the quality. Over engine oil use, the effectiveness goes down. They given an amount in mgKOH/g and has indicated as OK - I do not know the exact background for BN |
