First service question:

I just had the first service on my 335D. I was surprised to see that they didn't even check the engine air filter (I can tell because there are small rocks stuck on it which fall off when you check the filter). The filter is very dirty.

All they did was, change oil and change oil filter. That's it. I thought that they do a lot more then just change oil and filter.

isn't the air filter supposed to be changed? Is there anything else that they should have done?

On US cars, the air filter usually doesn't get replaced until the 2nd or 3rd oil change.

I am WOWed at how disappointing bmw service is. Now I see how they can afford to give free service: it's worthless and after your free service will expire you are guaranteed to have major service expenses.

The bottom line: they set you up so they can take your money later on...

This has been discussed a few times that im aware of ... basically... for an oil change every 15k (25k in my case THANKS BMW) and MAYBE an brake pad change... All the hype they give the "free maintenance" is just smoke and mirrors.

If they estimate the "FREE maintenance" to be worth $,$$$.00 they should eliminate it and credit it towards the price of the car.

most of us here dont follow the oil change intervals set by bmw anyways. we know and proved they were a joke.

just venting.
