Exterior door handle light problem

I have a 2007 328xi sedan with a peculiar issue that has yet to be resolved by my local BMW dealer.

I bought the car used with 48K miles and after driving it a few weeks I noticed that the exterior door handle lights did not work. The car is currently at the dealership and they have been trying to resolve this for over 5 days with no luck. They contacted BMW corporate for a possible solution and they suggested doing a complete software upgrade/update. As of today, that did not work.

The lights work when triggered by their tester tool, but will not turn on by themselves.

What happens if they can't resolve this? The car is still under warranty for 185 miles!

Do I get a NEW CAR or a CASH SETTLEMENT?

Dealer called yesterday and said that a BMW "master technician" is coming down from BMW North America in New Jersey to "fix my car" next week.

They usually replace your 3er with a 5er for issues like that. Don't settle for anything less.

I don't want a 5er. I turned in the 525i for that 328xi.

Problem resolved after almost TWO WEEKS! There was not problem. Apparently, the exterior door handle lights are controlled by the INTERIOR light switch. If you don't turn them on so tha the interior lights up when you open a door, the exterior door handle lights are not activated.
