Depends on how you have your pairing setup. I pair to the car for handsfree calls and I pair to the BT adapter for the audio. Totally different BT protocols. You can be connected to both at once. When a call comes in your phone will automatically shut off the music (If being played through your phone) and your handsfree on the car will activate to take the call.

must not be the same one. This one is very small and can easily close the console with it plugged in and the mini plug going into the top of it.

Probably comparable, or even worse. Bluetooth transports audio via A2DP (Advanced Audio Distribution Profile), which compresses the music data, resulting in lower quality. Then you run that through the AUX, which is also known to lower the sound quality.

I currently have the Belkin Bluetooth Car Hands-Free Kit,
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00 installed on my 2009 BMW 335d and I have to say that it works great. No problem streaming music thru bluetooth with my iphone as well as making phone calls. Once I placed the echo cancelling microphone piece in a location that gives me the best quality, I had no problems listening to music and making phone calls. My wife has the Griffin Car Audio Bluetrip Bluetooth, http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Techno...iffin+bluetrip and it works great for streaming music thru bluetooth, but since the microphone is located on the adapter, it limits the quality of the phone calls. So my choice is the Belkin, since you can use it for streaming music and making good quality phone calls. I ended up replacing the Griffin with the Belkin in my wife's car. |

http://store.apple.com/ca/product/H2...apter?fnode=46 I can talk and air play music directly from my phone .... simply amazing .... BMW Canada wanted to charge to charge me $1000 for a bluetooth and it wont even have air play capabilities . The quality is 10/10 , better than my standard aux cable . It was very easy to set up ...

I'm not sure about the OP's Griffin product, but i was using a BT gateway to A2DP and i had to manually connect to it all the time.
This product is the only one that i know that will allow your phone to connect to the BMW BT phone kit and this device automatically: http://www.newpotatotech.com/TUNELIN...link_auto.html They have an app for iphone and android to download to modify your settings and play your music through.. pretty neat! |

I noticed a significant reduction in sound quality over using the AUX cable streaming Pandora. Bass impacts are not as forceful and the highs have degraded as well. Very convenient and I love the stealth factor of having it all tucked away in the center console, but I've personally gone back to the cord. |
