How long did your software update take?

So my car has been @ the dealer for a week now for software update to "repair" my HPFP. and yes the SA said i'll most likely have to come back soon to get the HPFP replaced but that's how BMW is proceeding with this now blah blah blah.

He says the computer keeps crashing and the car is still programming, for a week. Just want to get an idea if this is what most members are experieincing? Thanks.

Mine took about 6 hours. Had it done about 2 weeks ago...symptoms went away...Now they're back and worse than ever. I should have put my SA on speed-dial for my cell cuz I'm sure I'll be using it a lot in the near future.....

It should usually take between 3 and 20 hours or so.

The time for the software upload is dependant on what systems need to be updated. The system looks at the vehical and then determines what updates are needed and this is automatic and not tecnichian dependant.

talked to the SA, the reason it's taking a long time is that the computer keeps crashing during the update, which I have read has happened to a few members. now he says they r ordering a new DME and swapping it out then do the update. interesting...

Last time I had the software in my E93 updated, it took them 3 full days to get it to take.

Yep, apparently it crashed a few times during my update too. Shocking that with a system so completely under their control they can't get it to even update properly.

Mine took a few hours. However, mysteriously shortly after the update my battery went bad so I had to take the car back to the shop to get a new battery. That's three dealer visits in two weeks and I was out of town for 9 of those days. I carry my SA's card in my wallet now!

I sat at the dealer all day and at the end of the days they said two moduels failed. I had to leave my car overnight. I needed the software update for my OEM Alarm and iPod interface.
