I have an 07 and every time I see a thread about dme failure I get scared.
I really hope you get this sorted out. You are under cpo so I cant see them denying you warranty, just hope for the best man. |

This is a common problem with the MSD80's and tell everyone at BMW to get fucked...I know another member on here that got screwed $3500 for a new dme and injectors that the dealer told him that he had to buy to fix it. Could have been fixed to less than a $1...I used parts from his bad dme to fix mine. BMW will never replace a simple part like a MOSFET and will never actually open your DME so don't be afraid to dig in. I just did this on another 335 that I have now as well. The OP posted the same symptoms that me and everyone else has experienced. You most likely will not be driving the car anywhere unless you only lost one MOSFET..I blew two and had to tow the car home, it would barely run at all.

Order these:
FDB14N30TM http://www.digikey.com/product-detai...MCT-ND/1566830 If you are scared to solder it yourself then take to tv repair shop and they will probably do it for no more than $20 |

My advice is, do not fix it yourself. Today you may fix one MOSFET, next month you may be on the side of the road again for another one.
Fight for a new DME, you are not stealing anything. It is in your on warranty manual, that the DME is warranted for 80K miles. Do some research on this forum on how many people had the same problem and got new DME's at no cost.

Yes that's what it looks like but I will double check after work. What causes or preventions can you take to prevent the DME to blow the MOSFETs? At WOT I don't heard any backfires and the only mods I have are JB4 and DCI. Tranny shifts smooth and I don't beat on the car. Only when need too...

But I think it gets damage do to misfire, because that;s how it happened on mine. I filled up with 60% E85 (by mistake), went WOT which caused a misfire on two cylinders and took out the DMI with it.

I am thinking it might be worth just replacing all 6 mosfets if one dies, or if anyone can actually provide a service to proactively re-solder all 6 ad not have to worry about it
