I agree the rears wear faster than the front. I figured that out by the shear volume of brake dust that accumulates on the rear wheels and not on the front. Wow.

Man, one of my buddies sold his Nissan 350Z a few months ago. He wrecked the vehicle, so to see if it was shown on car-fax he looked it up. Car-fax did not show the car as wrecked. I don't have much familiarity with car-fax, but with the sounds of it I don't think I would necessarily trust it. Although a wrecked car is different from brake pad replacement, I would probably just take a look at them (its not hard) and judge yourself.

Carfax is only as good as the data they collect or what gets reported to them. For example, if you bring your car to a body-shop for any reason (crash, chipped paint etc) and there is no police report or insurance claim, if the body shop doesn't report anything to Carfax, it will never make the report.

I just bought a pre-owned 335xi sedan and the records I got with the car from the Dealership who originally leased the car and then sold it to me....my rears where replaced at 23k miles and the fronts at 28K miles.... I have less than 43k on the car and I still have the BMW factory warranty.... no rotor replacements and the fronts say 17k in the computer and rears 15k in the computer....I'm going to brake hard until August or 50k and see if I can at least get a set of rotors.....for free
