Arrow Point make prizes - or do they?

Had this email tonight - now I wonder if there is any truth in it?

Quote:
Hey all you drivers with little time on your hands...have a read of this, not sure how correct it is but it did come from a friend in a solicitors office!!

I’d be interested to know if this works.

READ THIS, IT IS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SAVE YOUR LICENCE: Dodge the Points!

This is how the points get added to your licence:

If you get a fixed penalty notice through the post which also carries penalty points the computer system first sends you a demand for the cash.
When you have paid, it then sends a demand to return your licence for endorsement. It cannot handle the licence endorsement and the payment at the same time, and it cannot process the points part of the system until the financial section is complete. If you overpay the fixed penalty, it must issue and send a refund cheque for the overpayment.

Therefore, overpay the fixed penalty by sending a cheque for the full amount plus £1. The computer will then automatically generate a refund cheque for the over-payment and send it to you.
**** Do not cash this refund cheque - DUMP IT. The system then remains 'open' and cannot generate the 'send your licence for endorsement' demand part of the program.
It does, however, record your payment of the fixed penalty, so it does not trigger the 'follow-up unpaid fine' stage. As there is no human intervention, the system will leave you alone, since it has got your money, which is the primary objective!

CIRCULATE THIS WIDELY !!!!!!!!!!!!

Been around for years and surely not every countries computer systems would have the same 'loophole' - considering it has been spread all over the world suggests it probably won't work

This topic was on E90Post a few months ago and people decided that it might have been true at some time, but no longer.

Found this on Snopes.com. It seems to be an American story but actually started in Australia.

I went through about 20 cameras to and from the Ring - so if i get them all through im willing to try anything to avoid them - otherwise the fines alone might bankrupt me!!!

One of us IS going to get a FPN in the next few weeks.

That person is nominated to test it - they cant do you for overpaying it, so we will soon find out if it works or not.

Simples. (As the searchthemeerkat meerkat says)

If you get flashed by speed camera on the continent, you should not get a fine due to the fact there is no agreement between the UK & European countries over this issue.Police have to see you speeding, then they have the right to stop & make you pay an ' on the spot ' fine.

Foreign vehicles in the UK are pretty much untouchable.
Speed camera's can't catch them & If the police pull a foreign vehicle over they have little power to fine them.
