Nobody makes a full 3" DP for an XI unfortunately due to the limited space. It just can't be done.

A $500 price difference was enough to make me want to wait

Well, bad news... I checked the tracking number and they weren't picked up until today . This means they're not getting here until tomorrow so i'll have to wait until next Saturday to have a shop install them. I can't go during the week since my car is my DD and the install takes so long.

This may have been answered earlier... Forgive my unwillingness to read everything prior to this to answer my own question- youre having a shop do this install for you right?

Yes i'm having a shop do it. I have no idea how to drop the subframe and I don't want to try.

3" downpipes are just hype. 2.5" downpipes are more than fine even if the whole thing was 2.5"

Ugh I just wish these were here tonight. I had everything set up for tomorrow including a ride to the shop. I'm going to a shop an hour away so it was a pain to set everything up and now i'll have to reschedule for next weekend. I paid and specifically said to get them to me by Today but I guess something must have came up... I'll post pictures of the pipes tomorrow I just can't get them installed until next Saturday. Sorry everyone

So HP gains don't depend on size?

I'm pretty sure they do but don't all DP's neck down to 2.5" to meet up with the stock exhaust? If so I don't it going down to 2.5" earlier would have a profound effect.

Not me!
I am SO glad I decided not to wait when this thread started 10 months ago!
Instead, I ordered my AR's which showed up on my doorstep in about 10 days, I installed them myself and I've been enjoying them for about 9 months now!

Yep they all have to neck down to the 2.5" stock exhaust, so it doesn't really matter that much.

If you're dropping 50k on a car... Let alone the cost of all the other mods aside, including intake, tune, intercooler- and you're holding back on opening up the car to another 60 or so horse over 500 bucks.... I feel for you- because, Santa is going to let you down... You won't see those xi downpipes by Xmas and you're being misled. These guys have commitment issues. If you liked it, then you should have put a ring on it. Thanks, beyonce, I put a ring on my ARs and won't look back.

Did you dropped the subframe yourself or have a shop do it?

Fair enough. In my case they'll be here tomorrow and if they fit I really do think they'll be here long before christmas. I understand what your saying about the $500 but for me its worth it to save that money for something else when VRSF makes pipes of pretty similar quality to the more expensive AR's.

Yep, I did it all by myself with the car on jack stands in about 4 hours (taking my time) from start to finish. I'm really mechanically inclined with lots of tools, so it wasn't that hard to do... especially compared to other projects I've done on previous cars, like pulling the whole engine out for example

+100000000000000

In my business if you say your going do do something and don't deliver what you say
when you say, no one will do business with you in the future. The customer doesn't care if someone "stole" your test fit pipes or your busy with other things, or your shop burned down, or your town had an earthquake, or whatever the excuse may be. Find another "supplier" to build the pipes, or do it yourself, or hire a reputable welder. Get the job done or don't do it at all and don't ever mislead your potential customers (these were said to be ready how long ago?). No one wants to hear
endless excuses of why something simple can't be delivered on time.

Sorry for the lesson of how to run a successful business but this is basic
business 101.

I'm honestly not trying to be a jerk with this post, it just needs to be said.

I got home and my DP's and FMIC were at my doorstep. Here's a few pictures in case anyones interested. Keep in mind these are pre-production pipes but the welds looked very good to me. I was hoping my FMIC would be stenciled but I guess they aren't doing that yet... Either way that also looks like its high quality.

Power comes from the removal of the cats. Look at the turbos when you remove your downpipes and you'll realize where the real bottleneck on the exhaust side of the system is.

I ran 1/4 miles with 3" and 2.5" downpipes back to back multiple times and could not pickup any difference whatsoever. The times were always identical between the two.
