Just called. Convertibles aren't affected

EDIT- it seems it's based on production date. My date was later, so I was not affected. Sorry for the misinformation.

What the heck does being a convertible have to do with this I wonder? I'm pretty sure e93's get the same engines from the same line that the other e9x's do.

I'm more interested in seeing a listing of specific model/production dates.

In the other vanos thread, the tsb refers to any N55 with a production date from 02/10-12/10 yet the recall is for 2010-2012 3 series.

My production date is 10/11 (late model '11), well outside the original tsb dates, but I still won't feel 100% comfortable until I confirm the exact model or vins of the recall.

I thought the same thing. The shop foreman told me it was primarily E90s and a few E92s. Of course, they could have even blowing smoke up my ass....I would just call the dealer to check.

Everybody that is freaking out about VINs and if their car is affected or not just needs to be patient. As long as BMW has a good address for you, you'll get a letter. Worst case, wait a few weeks and take your key into the service desk and have them look up if there is an outstanding recall. Remember that there are over 150,000 vehicles affected. They don't have that many VANOS parts laying around to do it all at the same time. Different vehicles will become eligible to have the recall work done at different times. It is going to be okay. Your car will most likely not experience a catastrophic failure between now and the day you get your letter.

Just called the dealership. Sounds like the recall isn't 'official' and it will likely take a month to get a call or a letter addressing whether or not I may be potentially be affected, then get a second letter stating if I am actually affected, in which case, I would need to make an appointment

Not sure if this was directed at myself or not but I'm certainly not freaking out.

I was simply making a point that I just won't assume that there is nothing wrong with my car based on the tsb production dates alone until I find out what specific cars are affected. Until then, I'll wait.

My car is going in on Monday morning for the 30k service. I'll see what details they have at that time, if any, and report back.

Exactly the same info I got...I called BMW North America and requested they note my concerns and my request to bring the car in to have the recall done immediately, aware that will not occur.

Specifically that I would like BMWNA to be on notice that I requested to leave my car with the dealership for replacement of the affected part today, 4/11/2014, and I was advised that my request would not accommodated even if I was willing to leave my car...in the the event that a loss of power causes me to be rear ended by an 18 wheeler while merging onto the highway or something of the like

That aside, BMW has affirmed my faith in taking care of outstanding pervasive known issues with their cars time and time again. They take their time, but make it right.

I believe this recall has been extended worldwide

Great news for us folks in the UK, called BMW UK today, it appears it'll be a while before I can get my car in for repairs lol, don't care as long as it's done

I really wish that was true. Ask the Z3 owners how their subframes are doing and if they are ripping the bottom of their trunk out yet. I think the only reason we are seeing this right now is because of the actions against GM and Toyota recently.

Went to BMW today and asked about it. Me said primarily 328i's are affected and not n55 335i's... So only time will tell what happens

Calm down. Wait till you get the letter in the mail. Stop blowing up your dealerships bc there's no point until the VIN#s are released that are affected.

Mine is a 2011 within this date range. I scheduled an appointment at Kelly BMW here in OH letting them know about it, and I would like the recall done on my car. I'm hoping they'll understand that just because it's being recalled in China doesn't mean that the issue doesn't occur here - because it does.

I do have a CPO and am still under warranty so I hope that is covered if the worst does happen and they do not do the recall fix.

Here you go. Click on the link and put your Last 7 of your Vin # in and it will let you know if it has a Recall.

Mine says only the battery cable, which I never took it in for. Are you sure this has been updated on their end to reflect the new recall? I highly doubt I am not in the recall range.
