still loving my BMW 330i M Sport

I purchased my car from the BMW dealership in January this year. It's a December 2007 BMW 330i M Sport, sapphire black fully loaded with the auto. It has the upgraded 272 PS direct injection engine and in August this year I fitted the BMW Performance Intake and BMW Performance Exhaust.

The car has been an absolute pleasure to drive, it just adapts to any driving style, cruising or sporty for the twist roads. Incredibly balanced and tons of grip, yes even with the stock run flats but I plan to get rid of them when they wear out. e90 330i are pretty rare around here (London) the majority of the beemers are diesels and I feel like my car is just so underrated. I admit my car is an auto and I prior to buying the car I did want a manual but it was literally IMPOSSIBLE to get the same spec, with a manual, given the rarity of the engine. However I'm now glad i went with the auto, slip it in DS, keep the revs high and its properly fast.

Now I'm totally against public road racing but I've had a few drag races from the stop light and I can tell you the 272 PS 330i can beat the majority of UK cars. Cars i've raced against from stand still were the Audi A3 1.6 litre, Golf 1.8 litre, Vauxhall Corsa, IS250 and even the 320d and I pulled on all of them hard. Had a little trouble with the 320d due to it's impressive torque but I still managed to pull slightly ahead.

I'm in love with my car, its a proper 6 cylinder BMW and the last of the naturally aspirated petrol 6 pots, a true legend. Hoping to keep it for a very long time, it only has 13k miles on it!!

i have the 325i(euro) direct injection just like yours but with the 2.5ltr 218bhp engine & i can understand your feeling I installed the Performance exhaust & waiting to get some cash for the intake soon as its so pricey from bmw. Did you notice any difference in torque\power after installing the bmw intake?

Thanks..

Euros are so lucky, I would have loved the 272hp NA engine in my E92.

The N53 is THE engine that I would have loved in my E90 (no turbo, thanks). Being direct injection, are they known for high pressure fuel pump failures like in the N54?

There have been hpfp failures but no recall for it like the n54. There are however recalls for coils and injectors. I have a 2008 n53 330i manual but se spec only. Great fun to drive especially with all the cold air we have now in Scotland :-)

Wait. Let me get this straight. You beat a golf 1.8 AND a 1.6 a3 in your 330?!?

This is unbelievable.

Sorry man happy for you & all that but this is hardly a bad boy list. If I was in a Corsa & a 330 BM felt the need to burn off I'd laugh.

It's good that you're enjoying your car though

Now that I have had my PE and PI for a few months I can tell you it's definitely worth it. I was initially disappointed but after burn-in it does get more noticeable. As for the PI you can hear it past 4K RPM.

Hi, are you from the US? Apparently your stock intake is significantly different to the Performance Intake so you will notice a big difference. As for the Europe lot there isn’t much of a difference between the stock and PI. So far I have only done like 600 miles and I haven’t noticed a difference. Maybe the ECU is still self-calibrating to the larger inflow of air.

Any who big story guys, I raced a 2009 Audi 1.8 TFSI S-line the other today. It has a turbo and I still beat it! pulled like 3 car lengths on him and I wasn't even on sport mode. Man my car is a BEAST!!

no i got the euro version 325i with performance exhaust, your PE will get much louder after couple of 100 miles, i got the same stock intake like in the 330i, conical filter dunno if the performance intake from bmw will be worth it..

For aesthetic value its definitely worth it, the carbon fibre looks very very cool!

But as for performance you wouldn't notice anything at low revs. But definitely you will hear it at very high revs (4k onwards). The throttle response feels more responsiveness too, either that or the cold winter air is making the difference! lol
