DIY: Black Lower Grills! (INTERCOOLER OVERSPRAY FIX!!)

What you need:
1 Can of Plastidip
1 roll of blue Painters tape
Paper to make the overspray
3 regular sized balloons

I know there are plenty of DIY for painting the lower grills however i could not find a solution for solving the overspray on the intercooler. it has always been "be careful and stay further back". im not sure if this i am the first to think of this but here you go anyways.

The pictures are pretty self explanatory.

steps:
1. clean the area
2. mask off the grills
3. add the overspray protection
4. stick 3 balloons in the center grill and blow them up until they cover the area in front of the intercooler. tie off the neck and tuck the neck of the balloon behind the mesh.
5. shake can and spray (many thin coats are better than a think one)
DONT OVER APPLY!!

wait for it to dry

6. slowly deflate the balloons by cutting a small slit into the neck of the balloon.
7. pull out the balloons and unmask carefully. ( i used a knife and ran along the masking tape and the glue just incase they were to adhere to each other.

ENJOY!!

Sorry i didnt get a FINISHED product picture lol... ill post one up ASAP!

I hand painted mine with plastic spray paint using artists brushes and such...took me some time but looks great.

I saw this when I was about to do mine, but I think the neighbors woulda thought I looked weird giving my engine a 'bj' LOL haha.....great idea though!! End result = how it should have been stock.

Just to make sure.. On the drivers side intake one of the two intakes is blocked..( Hope you know what I mean). Was this the same for you? In the pictures, from what I can tell, the left and right intake are both "fully open" on your car... I don't think I can squeeze in a balloon between the plastic behind the mesh and the mesh itself...may have to let the plastic behind it get painted too...
