Job Offer In Irvine - Need Advice
Hi All,
I received a job offer to move to Irvine. I am having a hard time figuring out what my net monthly income will be and what to expect in terms of healthcare costs and rent etc. I have been researching and I have an idea I just want to verify some of my findings. Looking for someone to talk with that might be able to help. I work in the 3pl (3rd party logistics) world. |

I grew up in Huntington Beach which is near Irvine and went to college in Irvine. I may be able to help with advice. Rent all depends on how nice you want and how close to the ocean (Newport Beach).
Heath care may be part of your benefits from your company (you will need to see what they cover and how much you will have to contribute if you elect to use their plans), otherwise check out www.esurance.com . I used them when I was unemployed and as a contractor. |

Congrats on the job, from my experience, every time I drive to Irvine (there, back, or pass) there's always major traffic on the 405 fw. You might be lucky enough to avoid traffic but it all depends on the time you leave to and come from work. Good luck on your new job

You will not regret moving there. I went to high school there, still go to Cars and Coffee any change I get,
Expense and taxes/insurance those can all be sorted out later, just do it.

I live right where the 55 and 5 freeways meet. If you can swing it, make the move, you won't regret it. Also get some roommates, but roommates you know really well. I live in a townhouse with 3 other guys and we still love our place. Parking is tight in OC if you have roommates though.

i live and work in irvine.. great place to live.. clean safe lots of asian food (if you like that) plenty of parks shopping centers and nice housing. Only downside is night life in Irvine blows! no real bars or places to party. Luckily, there are plenty of places within a 20 mile radius. Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Fullerton and LA/SD about and hour or so in both directions.
Rent.. i would say 600 - 1000+ for a room depending where you want to live. i pay 800 a month for a master bedroom in a 3 bedroom townhouse. if you get a 1 bedroom spot 1000+ hope that helps a bit. Feel free to PM me if you have any additional questions

I live in Irvine with a friend. 2 bed 2 bath apartment paying $875/month without any utilities...Expensive but I really like Irvine. Can't be too much of help since I've only been here for about 3 years.

I have been talking with detective loki a lot. I guess I should say that I have a wife and two children. I got the benefit package from the employer and they use aetna or something and the prices semi monthly for healthcare ranges from like $240 to like $300 for a family. That is with some type of discounts for not smoking and such. Plus dental and vision maybe around $540 total a month. Taxes, I still need to get an understanding for. Salary will be approximately 65k. Don't think it is doable as the sole provider.
