I don't see any reason why it won't work on your e90. The installation instructions from BMW, don't indicate 2007 E90 onwards.

I think it is up to your dealer and how comfortable they are with doing the install. Like I said earlier, my first dealer did not recommend doing it but then my other dealer, after speaking to them and having them read the 6FL retrofit documentation, felt it should work too and gave a shot. It worked out with help from Germans!!
My dealer had to download a special program from BMW to get the retrofit working.
I would suggest telling your dealer my experince, and if needed talk to parkview bmw (Toronto) for information or BMW Germany.

Good Luck!

What did you specific do to make it work?

Funny thing, I spoke to different dealer, prior to my install and they called BMW Canada and as per them, the part was tested and NEVER worked. They had adv the dealer not to install the kit. However, since I read the installation instructions for retrofit kit and had a feeling it should work. I tried a different dealer and got it working. .

So for those interested in getting the retrofit kit, here are the details.

I needed the following parts to get this working.
Retrofit kit No.# 65 41 0 445 465
ULF Module # 84-10-9-207-360 (some cars, may have this). My Apr 07 Production 335i, with Bluetooth, I-Drive and Logic 7 did not have the module.
The part themselves cost $1000.00 CAD + Labour.

I know it’s a little pricey but I had wanted it since few weeks after I ordered my car (2.5 yrs now) and enjoy’n it now.

Good Luck to those interested.
Awesome

I'm hoping that a) a dealership in the U.S. can get these parts and b) that the cost comes down a bit

Good write up and thank you

Has anyone who has this fitted had any problems with the Ipod going into sleep mode (Over night) and then not being recognised by the HiFi when you first start the car?

It shouldn't do, you can set a calender reminder evry 24 hours to force the ipod not to sleep, or to wake up, I can't remember what it is.

If you look on the Intravee forum this is discussed at length.

Not available in USA

I have 2008 335I with nav. & blue tooth. Checked with my service person here in Atlanta. She says 6 Fl retro-fit is not available in the USA. Only European cars (of which Canada is considered a part of) can get the 6 FL retro-fit. . . Hope things change!

As has already been said, the factory-fitted 6FL option uses both the TCU unit and the ULF-SBX-High unit in parallel. The latter box is only there to provide the 6FL capability (so presumably its other capabilities are ignored or are duplicated by the TCU).
I have included the standard (non-High) ULF-SBX diagram for completeness.
The power wiring schema is in separate diagrams which I can provide if anyone is interested.
It does seem that the European 6FL retrofit works in a different fashion to this.
For reference these diagrams are from 09/2007.
Where is the BlueTooth speaker connected when using the ULF-SBX-High for BT?

No USB but seems like i got everything else?

Just researching to see to what needs to be done for my car:

my car has everything but navi and including aux port in the center console in the armrest. (Bluetooth, BMW assist, Voice control) So seems like i am missing only USB ... wonder how that happened. I have premium pkg.

Looking at the usb retro pdf, i think i only have to do 620 without 609, voice control without navigation. But, i already have aux output cable .. can anyone shed some light on this?

thx

Got Bluetooth working

Hi All,
Thanks to the info in this thread I have been able to retro-fit the Bluetooth telephone function to my 2008 E92 Sport. The car was supplied with Professional radio, L7 & USB (6FL) as standard. As the ULF-SBX-High acts as both audio & Bluetooth it was remarkable easy to complete and now I enjoy the full benefit of Bluetooth as SA644 with voice activation.
I purchased the following parts from the SA644 retrofit kit 84640398228 from my local BMW dealer.
1. Retrofit wiring harness 61120403137
2. Microphone 84316938762
3. Bluetooth Antenna 84506928461. (all parts came to £160.00)
As the ULF-SBX-High was already connected to the MOST fibre optic circuit I did not need to alter any STD settings. I simply located the wiring harness as per the retrofit instructions, connecting in both the microphone in the original location of the interior light housing (FSD) and Bluetooth antenna next to the driver footwell.
This wiring loom came with a WHITE 54 pin block that does not directly fit the ULF-SBX-High unit which has a blue connecter block. I just needed to take the wiring pins out and relocating in the correct location of the original BLUE 54 pin block. (Thanks KenH for your wiring diagrams).
I had the car re-coded by my local BMW specialist with the Auto logic system (thanks GizzE); they had to code 4 items in the car to get the Bluetooth switched on. Then it all worked. Auto logic cost just £35
So all in all, done for less than £ 200.00
I will add the eject box at a later stage when I decide to upgrade my phone, currently Sony Ericsson C902 which works really well & add a Antenna which sticks to inside of rear screen.
I cannot thank you guys enough, would recommend this over a Parrot system any day. By the way the USB option is great, killed of the need for any CD’s & removes the need for an iPod as well.
Cheers.

The good news (for me) is that the wires going into the lower box seem to be exactly the same colors as the bunch of spare cables sitting in the back of my X5 (to which I want to add 6FL).
What's the part# of your mulf2-high?

I've got an '07 335i that came similarly equipped and I'm looking to do the same upgrade (add a TCU + other components to enable bluetooth functionality). Do you, or anyone else, know if there's a particular model of TCU I need to get if I already have the 6FL in my car? If so, anyone know that model number? Thanks for any help.
