I spotted this earlier too. One thing I've not found out yet, probably just overlooked it, but what engine is going in it?? I'm guessing the current 4.0 V8 is out and a smaller engined multiple turbo-ed something preferred??? Does anyone know.
The 135i is apparently an absolute hoot so this surely is something special.

Funny how it looks miles bigger than the E30 M3.
Should be a hoot - but I fear its going to be £35-40k if not more once spec'd up in the UK. Too easy to get an nearly new M3 for that sort of money. |

They cant be using the M1 name on a 1 series.
@Matt just bit n bobs that i have read on the net since the rumors started. No doubt it will be a hoot to drive though. |

Looks just like a normal 1 coupe, I love the shape... I haven't seen a bad review yet of the 135i, so if they can improve on that to the same degree the M3 betters the 335i, it could be a winner.

This may be a little rich coming from a "dowdy" SE owner (which I rather like the look of ;-) ) but the 1 series coupe is the most munting munter this side of Muntsville.
An M3 Coupe has tonnes of road presence. A 1 series coupe has this much >> . << |

I did read (albeit a while ago) that it's the E46 M3 / Z4 M engine going in - the 3.2l...mmmm
Not a fan of the looks, but with less weight than a 3er its more about the drive...

1 series is silly ugly.
Power is still immense though. There's better for your money in power and aesthetics. |

Ok so perhaps not in power (what's the true specs on it? I've heard 60 PS @ 7.400 rpm and 450 Nm @ 2.000-7.000 rpm which is, for the engine, pretty tasty) but anything atm in the top BMW range can beat it in aesthetics. I'd rather spend my money on an E46 M3 CSL tbh even though it's an old car, just my opinion:
(http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1742102.htm) (no ad) Or of course one of these: VS Go figure. Last edited by SiKkBaSs; 07-20-2010 at 02:11 PM.. |
