Ways to tell if my progman has been updated.....
How can I tell if I have been updated? Took my car to Rassmusson BMW for oil change, told them not to update software, they even wrote it in the notes of the service receipt.
But, how can I double check that they didn't actually update my software? The reason why I'm asking is because after I got my car back, it seemed a bit laggy. Don't know if it's in my head or what, but I just want to know if there's a way for ME to see if the software has been updated or not. FWIW, my car was built on 9/07. Please chime in....... Thanks,

do you have stock exhaust? if so, is it noticeably louder? that is one sure way to tell.
My mar07 build e92 got its first progman update and I got v31.x - louder exhaust and noticeable lag in higher gears I don't believe there is any secret way to display your current program version in the trip computer or iDrive

You know what, I never really paid too much attention to the exhaust sound, and yes I do have stock exhaust.
I don't know if it's louder now compared to before........It sounded the same to me, as far as I know. Unless there's a BIG difference in sound? thanks,

If you floor it from a stop and watch the tach - if you feel a surge of power around 3000rpm then you've probably got the lag. I had an '06 330 before my 335 and my coupe feels like it did off the line until it hits about 3000 rpm.

I think it would be listed with whatever work was done on the car. I'm not sure if they just update a car for no reason. If you went in for somting that required software update(brake sensor or wastgate rattle etc) then I'd say yes. If you just went in for routine service, I don't think they'll update it. It generally takes some time to program the car. Even my Sirius took over an hour. But I had that done way before the whole tune detection stuff.

See iScream's post # 1723. This seems the most "accurate" DIY option short of getting your dealer to hook up you car to the machine.
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...147781&page=79 I have listed my numbers from both 30.0.2 and 31.1 below. From looking at the list 008.087.001 seems to cover from 29.2-30.0.2. 008.087.001 v30.0.2 E89X-08-03-540 008.106.001 v31.1 E89X-08-09-520 Version numbers confirmed from Final Report. |

Ok mine says. Level E89X07 03521. PERFORMED TEST PLAN B1214 FOR LOW PRESSURE TESTS. So do I have the gay lag?

Basically my 335 feels like my 330 did until it hits about 3000 rpm, then it takes off. The surge of power from the turbos is pretty obvious, but it should come on faster - around 1500-2000 rpm. At least that's how the early 2007 models I test drive performed.

It more than doubles and it sounds like someone has swapped your stock one with a sports exhaust. You can't miss this, so if you don't hear a louder and deeper exhaust note, then you probably weren't updated. Maybe they just had the power off during whatever test they did and the ECU has to learn your driving style & RON/AKI settings again? |

If you specify that you don't want an update, the dealer usually adheres to your request (unless you go to a terrible dealership).

I think he's asking me Turbo>NA......
It was there overnight because I also had issues with O2 sensor and the DPs rubbing/vibrating.

Sounds like you didn't get the new software. Good. And I'm pretty sure you would see the differences by now anyway. |

For me it was like WTF! when I picked up my car. The exhaust note is a dead give away that your car has been updated. |
