Interior transmission area heating issue
Hey everyone,
Have a 2009 335i sedan for about 10 months now, and recently noticed that the area where the shifter is (below center console, right next to ash tray) seems to be heating up significantly after extended driving. I have the aluminum trim, and I first noticed that the whole area was getting pretty warm to the touch. Yesterday, the aluminum portion was very very warm, borderline hot. Anyone else experience this? Searched through the forums but can't seem to see if its a known issue or not. Any ideas? |

Thanks Turkeybaster.
I only have 7300 miles on it, which is why I am a little concerned. I guess I should have it changed, but probably won't be able to get it covered under my maintenance warranty will it? Last edited by digneesh; 01-05-2010 at 04:29 PM.. |

You can change it if you want, but you'd have to do it via a private shop. BMW won't touch it untill after 100K miles. Plus the fluid they use is expensive, and as you can see HOT!

Pop up that trim piece and take it off. Drive around a while and put your hand down there to see specifically what part is getting hot or where the heat is coming from.

My friend bought the same car as I did, at the same time, with the same package and he does not have the heating issue at all. He also has the AL trim. |
