PBX Map 7

Hi All,

I recently had my pbx installed on my 330i and I have the bmw performance exhaust and the afe intake prior to that.

Map 3 is noticeably more responsive than stock but when I switched to map 7 (no throttle response and performance tuning on), it felt much slower than stock. I have to really step on the throttle to feel any acceleration.

I was wondering if anyone else has tried this map and if you are experiencing the same.

I have not tried map 0 yet but will check it out after work.

I wasnt sure if map 7 is suppose to decrease the performance or should feel the same as stock.

Thanks all.

The car needs a few days to adapt to the performance tuning, but it should never feel slower the stock.

Mike, what do you think the problem maybe. I had the pbx professionally installed.

Map 3 feels as it should and it is much more responsive than before.

I remembered that when I first got it installed, I had it on map 0 and it felt just like stock. I will retest map 0 and compare with map 7 when I get a chance.

Thanks.

Did you try to reset the maps and do it over again? Because the initial map is 3 when first installed.

The initial map on my car was 0. I was instantly able to tell the difference between map 0 and 3 just by reving the engine.

thats my problem. I got so used to map 3, that my car feels slow now, when really, it isnt. but when I switch it to 0 to take it to the shop... it feels very heavy and dragging.

pbx is a must have.

anyone know anything about the dinan throttle body? worth it? paired with afe intake, scoops, and the pbx.

I just tried map 0 and it felt the same as map 7. I then switched it to map2 and it was alive again.

Why would you even choose Map 7? There is no throttle mapping therefore the stock throttle is what you are using. It will feel slower. I love Map 3 but (for me) it wasn't economical to drive around with it on. My mpg dropped from 25 to about 19ish if I was lucky lol by the way I drive. I put it on map 6 and it seems fine to me. I get the throttle remap but not the increased air to fuel ratio so my mpg isn't too bad

I was trying map 7 to see how it compared to stock. I have an afe air intake and needed the tune (map 7) and I wanted to save some fuel by not having the throttle remap on. I only had the pbx for about a week and a half and didnt think stock felt that sluggish.

The only way I can tell if map 7 is different than stock is to drive my buddy's 330i stock and see if there is a difference. I will update you guys if I find out anything.

Either way, I now have it on map 1 and its pretty amazing.

Thanks all.
