PA (philly area) + GAS dilemma

Hey guys, I already did a few searches and it seems like everyone prefers Shell over every brand. But the only gas stations available around my area does not include Shell. I did a search and they are pretty far away from me. So what gas do you guys put in your E9X?? The ones close to me are Sunoco, LukOil, BP, and WaWa brand.

Go to Delaware for Shell. When I get gas in PA I always use Sunoco or BP.

I get the highest octane in the area when I need to fill up. I am not loyal to one brand or another. Right wrong or indifferent, that is what I do.

I use both Sunoco & Shell, and I try staying away from what is called off the rack gas or no name like Luke and Wawa. Car with Fuel injectors you should use gas with good detergent and additives, however using off the rack is ok once in a while but if you use them all the time you run the risk of gunking up your injectors. With off the rack gases you have no idea what you are getting.

But Sunoco tends to be pricy compared to others, Shell tends to be in the middle with wawa being at the bottom.

I've been using Wawa because it is on the way home. I would use shell, texaco, or bp if there were any nearby. I used to use exxon or mobil but i can't bring myself to go to Lukoil

I've seen a gas truck stop at a no name gas station and then 30 minutes later i've seen the same truck at a name brand gas station. Was at a shell filling the tanks and then was at a "Sun energy" filling up there tanks. Go figure!

Most tankers have more than one compartment and very few top tier gas companies run there own trucks these days they subcontract the hauling. Most haulers do not want to paint their trucks with company logos since it will limit them where they can use the truck.

Also. all fuels are the same when they come out the pipelines, the detergents and additives are mixes in at the time the tanker is filled up. This is how unbranded gas becomes branded.

base gas is bought and swapped by many companies. It is the additives that make it BRAND specific. At one refinery you can see 6 different company name trucks lined up for base gas (Pre-Additive). Its a commodity and Oil company's swap base gas to save on shipping all the time.

So it is the additive that makes it the Brand. But Additives can build up so it is suggested that every few thousand miles you switch your brand of gas so if you go to Shell for the first 5000 miles you should then go to Exxon for the next 5000 miles. Different additives remove additive build up of other brands.......LOL! So basically Base gas is pot luck! Its the additives that you are loyally buying.
