Stock DV popped out...

Yep, stock rear DV popped out under load this afternoon. I got on it while entering the highway and a pop followed by no boost occured. Got home and found the rear DV valve detached. I also found the clip was nearly at the open mark. I could put the DV back in and pull it right back out with a slight tug.

I reinstalled, secured the clip and pulled on it; it was now secure. So just a quick warning and perhaps something to periodically check; are the DV clips secure...

+1 I'm not surprised.....

After swapping back and forth between the forge and stock DV's I noticed that the grey locking rings became very easy to turn by hand......as opposed to the first time when I had to use a wrench.

I can see how they would rotate over time with engine vibration.

Have they been removed frequently? I could see how the plastic locking mechanism might wear with use.

They should have never been removed. I have never pulled them and I see no reason why the dealer would as the HPFP is the only thing which has been replaced on that side. But who knows, the technician could have pulled them when pulling the TB and intake manifold but should not have been nessesary.

Wow, that's strange that it would just pop out...did you hit any unusually large potholes recently?

I always wondered about the dv clips...When you first crack them open, they are hard as hell to turn, but once you cracked them once, its opens and closes easy...I wonder if they put any type of glue at the factory!

Not at all, roads are pretty good down here. Maybe just lack of attention and running nearly twice stock boost for the majority of the 33k miles.

Not a big deal to me as I identified it withint 30 seconds of opening the hood. In fact, I was somewhat thankful it was the DV as it was easy to get to as opposed to the IC connections.

Dunno, but I may add some thread lock at the edge of the clip, just to be sure they don't "walk" on their own.

Weird. Will definitely take a peek from now on when under the hood.
