Possible to Code Radio HU on bench?

Im installing a new HU from a 2012 in my E46 M3.
mainly for the SQ, HD radio, Sirrus, and Aux Input options. Its currently coded as TOPHifi, need it to be Hifi. ( makes a pop noise every 2 seconds, and the MOST lights blink on the rear )

Can I bench code the unit?
Can I connect the USB Programers CAN line directly to the CAN line on the radio.

How it sits right now:
All the wires are connected from the E46 to the new HU, all but the Can line. I was thinking wiring this line directly to my OBD cable.. OR connecting it on the E46's Can line.

Either way, Im only interested in programing this module.. right? Do you write directly to the CAS module ( thats the HU right )

Background
The Stock nav HU is old. and boring.
700/5 JL amp
4x Infinity 6030 CS
Technic Harness PnP.
1 Tw3 10" in a 4" deep enclosure

Sounds simply amazing already. Cant wait to finish this.

Sorry if this is a dumb question but why would you want to bench code it instead of installing it first?

Cas module is the car access module

Cas module is the car access module
it's not the radio the radio would be rad2 or rad2u 2urad something like that. Actually that's for the normal radio
not the idrive type which is even more complicated.
There is no nav in the stock radio.
If you can read the module with the radio connected to the can bus
you might be able to change parameters inside the rad file.(radio)
Getting it to interface with the car would be anybodys guess.
I don't know why you think its better audio quality but it might have more
features if you get one of the newer head units.

You need to turn off the optical bus and recode for Hi Fi
turn on whatever features you want.

Should look something like this is you can get it to read
This is for a 06 pro radio hi fi setup.
