My BMWhat BT Adapter arrived! :)

Just starting to mess around with it.

I haven't purchased the $61 app yet (but will likely do so). I will confirm that it works MUCH faster than my ELM327 generic BT OBD device. Torque Pro fully supported.

Does anyone here have the BMWhat App for Android? Can you comment on any coding you have done to your car with it?

I have an old Motorola Xoom I am thinking of mounting in the car to use Torque. Already found a Throttle position sensor issue that has been intermittent. Maybe time to get a nexus or something else...

Haven't tried coding with the app yet but tried it with my ELM327 and it seems to be working fine with it also Torque Pro works with the ELM327 BT dongle.

All my coding have been done with cable and PC. But the app was able to run through a full diagnostics (not the standard OBD) using the ELM327.

I am running it on a Note 3.

I've tested it on my Galaxy S4 and S5, and I'm using my Note 3 as well... I was thinking of mounting the Xoom permanently but it's a little too big.

My ELM327 does work, just slower than the BMWhat device.

I have a cable and software as well... just haven't used it yet. Been too busy at work.

Seems like certain models of the ELM327 works better than others. The one I have so far seems solid.

You might want to try a 7" tablet instead

Hi jc_bmw. I have a 2010 E90 328i which is very similar to your 2009. I have been using a generic ELM327 dongle with the BMWhat app on iOS and I get 16 ECU's answered when I perform a diagnosis. Would you mind telling me how many you get when you perform a diagnosis on your car?

I want to see if certain dongles would result in more ECU's answered when diagnosis is performed. Thanks.

Out of curiosity is this app worth it to have? Aside from diagnosing your car and seeing the gauges? Is there more perks of having this? I'm a noob in regards to this app.

You can code your car if you're into that. If not then maybe not as worth buying.

Bought the app... tried to enable start without brake and remote mirrors... unsuccessful. Submitted refund request for the app.

Looking through the coding list, the start without brake should not work with your 2010

In terms of the mirrors did you follow the instructions?

CAS: Comfort folding/unfolding for sideview mirrors
active
not active
BMWhat: When holding the lock/unlock button on the remote the sideview mirrors automatically fold/unfold. To activate this function please activate "Comfort folding/unfolding for sideview mirrors" in the "FRM" module.

FRM: Comfort folding/unfolding for sideview mirrors
active
not active
BMWhat: When holding the lock/unlock button on the remote the sideview mirrors automatically fold/unfold. May need additional coding of the "CAS" module.

I haven't tried coding with mine because all the coding I need to do was done already. But if someone want to test it out in the area, I might be up for it.

Definitely didn't work. I emailed them (BMWhat dudes).... let's see where I messed up.

If you look at coding documentation (not BMWhat) I think you need to set the following to active:
CAS: Comfort close using remote
FRM: Comfort folding/unfolding for sideview mirrors
CAS: Comfort folding/unfolding for sideview mirrors

Didn't code my car with it but was running through all the coding menus on the app and it seems like it is picking up all the items that I have coded in my car. So it should technically work.

Anyway you should test by setting these to active to see if you can get your remote to open and close all your windows by pressing and holding on the key.
CAS: Comfort open using remote
CAS: Comfort close using remote

Connection is stable - app says the option is coded, when I read the codings from the car, it seems to be present, but the feature just doesn't work.

I'm going to investigate further.

you can code, then un code it no?

My battery in my lappy is done and always needs to be plugged in for my coding, so either I purchase this or a new battery...

OK fine, just tried it out. Removed the digital speedometer and added it back on using the app. Working with no problem.

Does anyone know if the app read the readiness for emissions?

Didn't see it in there. If you care about this feature there are way cheaper apps out there that can do it.

So what are you able to code with this program?...I attempted to research but couldn't find anything... Also is it possible to us my BMW USB connector and drop it down to a mini USB and toss it in my tablet?
